It was announced Tuesday that the director of Pan’s Labyrinth and The Shape of Water will be writing a book of original short stories published via Amazon’s Original Stories imprint.

“Throughout the years, I’ve been inspired by reading short stories, from ghost stories to fairy tales. Now I have the privilege to create and share my own,” said del Toro in a statement.

Del Toro joins Mindy Kaling who will pulse a collection of essays via the same imprint in summer 2020. Del Toro’s short story collection is slated for a 2021 release.

Leonardo DiCaprio might soon be the stuff of nightmares.

The Oscar-winning actor is reportedly in talks to star in the next film from Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro.

Del Toro often wows audiences with his weirdly wonderful and imaginative works, such as The Shape of Water and Pan’s Labyrinth, but his next venture will be a remake.

The filmmaker plans to co-write and direct a retelling of the 1947 film Nightmare Alley, which is based on the novel of the same name by William Lindsay Gresham.

The story is about con-man who teams up with a female psychiatrist, who is even more corrupt than he is. Initially, their plan to trick people works, but then he finds himself becoming the mark.

DiCaprio is in talks for the lead role, which will not be his first as a con artist. He pulled off a similar character in 2002’s Catch Me If You Can.

Nightmare Alley is scheduled to start shooting in the fall.

The Oscars curse has struck again.

Many actresses who have won Best Actress for their work have announced that they are divorcing their partners within a couple years of their win.

Examples of those who have fallen victim to the golden statuette hex include Reese Witherspoon, Hillary Swank, and Sandra Bullock.

But the latest victim isn’t even an actor at all. He isn’t even female.

Just a few days after winning his Oscar for Best Director (on his 4th attempt) for The Shape of Water, Guillermo del Toro has revealed that he and his wife, Lorenza Newton, got divorced last year.

The pair, who had been married for 31 years, separated in February 2017 and finalized their divorce in September, but had decided to keep the news private as Guillermo embarked on his awards season tour which would result in numerous honors, including 2 Oscars.

During his acceptance speech on the big night, the 53-year-old made mention of his daughters, but not his former wife.

Perhaps he might take a page from one of his character’s books and consider dating fish…
