The post Phoebe Waller-Bridge Announces She’s Working on a Feature Film appeared first on TheDailyDay.
]]>Since her multiple Emmy wins earlier this year, Waller-Bridge has been asked time and time again whether we can expect more episodes of the critically acclaimed Fleabag in the future. We were treated with just twelve episodes, but Waller-Bridge has repeatedly shut down hopes that another season is on the cards.
Fortunately, the brilliant writer is not shutting down her talents for good. In fact, she recently told US Vogue that she is currently at work on an exciting new project.
Typically, Waller-Bridge revealed nothing about the plot of the movie. What she did confirm, however, was that she would be working on it with her sister, Isobel Waller-Bridge, who worked on the Fleabag soundtrack.
“I’ve always loved the idea of starting with a sound and working backward,” she explained. “A lot of times, I’ll write something and go to her and say, ‘Can you score it?’ and with this one, she and I have been talking about the score before I’ve even finished the movie.”
She added: “It’s such an exciting story and it’s just been a thrill to work on.”
More details to be shared when they are announced.

]]>One of the most important lessons Fleabag teaches us is that it’s OK to be vulnerable. In fact, it’s more than OK, it’s a part of making yourself open to love. Even though Fleabag’s ending with the Hot Priest was heartbreaking, he reminded her that real connection requires allowing yourself to be vulnerable.
In the Hot Priest’s wedding speech about love, he declares that to love is a strength and not a weakness. It takes tremendous courage to put your heart on the line but in the end, to love is to hope.
Fleabag’s family may be dysfunctional but at the end of the day, Fleabag steps up when they are in need. Her relationship with her sister is strained from the first episode but time and time again, Fleabag turns up when her sister needs her most.
In the first episode, Fleabag and her sister attend a feminist lecture where the lecturer asks the room whether they would trade five years of their life for the “perfect” body. Fleabag and her sister’s hand both shoot up and Waller-Bridge tells us that she is a “bad feminist.” Later in the episode, she helps a woman passed out on the curb. In her charming clever ways, Fleabag reminds us that there is no one way to be a feminist.
Fleabag’s backstory in relation to her best friend Boo is devastating. We eventually learn that Boo accidentally killed herself when she found out her boyfriend had cheated on her. Fleabag later confesses that the “other woman” was her. It’s not clear whether Fleabag ever entirely forgives herself for her crime but when she confesses to the Priest, a weight from her shoulders is lifted.

]]>So do we!
Alas, creator — and three-time Emmy Award winner — Phoebe Waller-Bridge has shut down all talk of the British Comedy returning for a third season, despite Amazon Prime saying it would be more than keen to broadcast it.
“To be honest, this just feels like the most beautiful, beautiful way to say goodbye to it, actually,” the actress said of the show’s second season following her Emmy win.
Yet, there may be a glimmer of hope…
Whilst appearing on Late Night with Seth Myers, Waller-Bridge teased that we could possibly return to the quirky character in the future.
“I quite like the idea of coming back to her, well, me, when I’m 50. ‘Cause I feel like she would’ve had more life then, and God knows what she would have got up to,” said the 34-year-old. ”And actually, seeing a character like that in her later stage of life, I think, is exciting. But I think for now, she’s been through enough. We got to let her go.”
Let’s hope the next 16 years speed by!

]]>Despite having no singular host, the ceremony was pulled off seamlessly by presenters who pulled out all the stops when it came to humor.
Cue Ben Stiller speaking about legend Bob Newhart as if he was dead, only for The Rescuers actor to point out that he is, very much, alive; Julia Louis-Dreyfus appearing on stage as her Veep character; and Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel explaining why award shows still need hosts.
And we haven’t even mentioned Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s speeches!
The Fleabag actress was the surprise winner of the evening, gracing the stage three times as she won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Comedy Series.
Other big winners on the night were Chernobyl, the HBO miniseries about the 1986 disaster; and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel which took home awards for Tony Shalhoub and Alex Borstein. In an unexpected twist, Game of Thrones, which was the most-nominated show going in, only picked up two awards for Outstanding Drama Series and Supporting Actor for Peter Dinklage.

]]>Andrew Scott, who played a priest in the series, said to Digital Spy that he would be available to do Fleabag 3 in 15 years’ time. “Oh, I’ll probably be dead. But if I’m still alive, yeah. Listen, I’ll be there, whatever she wants me to do,” joked Scott.
The actor praised the show, saying he loved the fact the story was so well self-contained. He also backed the writer’s decision not to continue with the show despite its success. “I think sometimes when something is a success, you just want to elongate it for kind of the wrong reasons,” he added.
Scott has also said he is open to get back to the role of Moriarty in future seasons of Sherlock, although he claimed he doesn’t know any of plans for the future of the BBC show.
Moriarty has committed suicide in the second season of Sherlock, but it didn’t stop him from popping up in later seasons.

]]>Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is responsible for creating, writing, and starring as the eponymous main character, will be releasing a book filled with more tidbits belonging to the BBC / Amazon comedy.
The literary release will be entitled Fleabag: Scriptures and come courtesy of Random House.
The book is set to include the full filming scripts of both seasons of the show and an afterword about production from Waller-Bridge.
Readers can also look forward to never-before-seen stage directions, like, “Her coat falls open. She only has her bra on underneath. She pulls out the little sculpture of the woman with no arms. It sits on her lap. Two women. One real. One not. Both with their innate femininity out.”
Fleabag: Scriptures will be available on November 5th.

]]>Phoebe Waller-Bridge takes the audience into her confidence as she continuously breaks the fourth wall in the six-part series based on her one-woman play.
After a hugely successful first season, the Killing Eve creator brought back the series for a second — and final — season, in which Sherlock star Andrew Scott plays a major role.
The series earned 9 nominations for the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Waller-Bridge.
Despite the actress explicitly saying she has no plans to continue with Fleabag, Amazon hopes she will change her mind…
“Nothing would make us happier than to have her bring another season of that show [to us], or anything else she wants to do,” network head Jennifer Salke said at the Television Critics Association press tour.
“I mean, I’m forever the optimist, so I remain always hopeful until it’s really over. So I’m hoping. I just am, like, basically [Phoebe’s] stalker. Anything Phoebe wants to do, we are signed up to do.”
Let’s hope she has a change of heart!
