Cate Blanchett and Yvonne Strahovski are about to find themselves without a state.

The Australian actresses have signed on to star in a new series entitled Stateless.

The House with a Clock in its Walls star will also producer the show along with her husband Andrew Upton.

Blanchett co-created the show, which will focus on four strangers who are stuck in an immigration detention center in the Australian desert. The characters have been identified as a flight attendant escaping a suburban cult, an Afghan refugee fleeing persecution, a young Australian father escaping a dead-end job and a bureaucrat caught up in a national scandal.

Dominic West has also been attached to the project, which is set to begin production in Adelaide next month.

“Whilst this story centres on Australia, the dilemmas that it explores through four absorbing characters will resonate globally: the desire for personal freedom, the need for social stability, an escalating lack of faith in the political process and the deeply unsettling impact this has on individual lives,” Blanchett said.

Stateless will have 6 episodes and be distributed through NBC.

They dreamed a dream. And now we are getting to share it with them.

Some of the biggest stars in the British film industry have come together to be, well, miserable.

BBC has released the latest trailer for its television adaptation of Victor Hugo’s novel, Les Misérables, which was most recently brought to the big screen by Tom Hooper and starred Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried.

The 19th-century series features Dominic West as Jean Valjean, David Oyelowo as Inspector Javert, Lily Collins as Fantine, and Adeel Akhtar and Olivia Colman as Monsieur and Madame Thénardier.

The production will not be a musical like the film version but will include many tense moments as it depicts the civil unrest in France at the time.

Both West and Oyelowo will serve as executive directors, while Tom Shankland is directing.
