]]>This announcement isn’t a huge shocker because it comes shortly after billboards reading “New year, new Miley” were spotted around Los Angeles. “Flowers” will hit the shelves on January 13, but Cyrus also launched a mysterious countdown on her official website, teasing a new project or announcement for this week.
The second edition of Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party saw Cyrus join forces with her godmother Dolly Parton, who replaced Pete Davidson as a co-host. The duo gave us one of the night’s best moments with the medley of their smash hits “Wrecking Ball” and “I Will Always Love You”.
Parton wasn’t the only star to join Cyrus during her New Year’s Eve performance. The list of special guests included David Byrne, Sia, Fletcher, and Latto this time around. Paris Hilton also joined Cyrus at one point, for a special rendition of her nostalgic 2000s hit “Stars Are Blind”.

]]>The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame did a great job celebrating many different genres that influences rock music and youth cultures over the years. In addition to country legend Parton, soul singer Richie, and hip-hop titan Eminem, they also honored new wave duo Eurythmics, synth-pop band Duran Duran, and rock singers-songwriters Pat Benatar and Carly Simon.
Parton’s acceptance speech was one of the night’s highlights, especially since it comes months after she tried to reject her nomination because she didn’t feel deserving of this honor.
“This is a very special night for me. I’m sure a lot of you knew that back when they said they were gonna put me in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I didn’t really feel like I had done enough to deserve that… But I’m just honored and so proud to be here tonight,” said Parton in her acceptance speech.
She joins in the ranks of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins, Bill Monroe, and Brenda Lee as one of the rare artists to be inducted into both the Rock & Roll and Country Music Hall of Fame.

]]>The title has belonged to Carrie Underwood for the past 12 years, usually with Brad Paisley by her side. Together, the pair became synonymous with the awards show, which recognizes the best in country and western music.
But when the CMAs return for their 53rd edition in April, neither musician will be on stage…
Paisley was not part of the hosting team this year, which constituted the all-female line-up of Underwood, Dolly Parton, and Reba McEntire, and it now seems as though the American Idol winner is following suit.
Following her 60 gig Cry Pretty 360 tour, which recently concluded, Underwood has decided to give up her hosting duties — at least for the time being.
“One of the highlights of 2019 and of my entire career so far was being on stage with the legends that are Reba and Dolly Parton,” the “Jesus Take the Wheel” singer wrote on Instagram. “I’m so proud that we could celebrate the incredible female artists that are part of the legacy of country music, past, present and future, and I’m thankful for the huge audiences all over the world that tuned in to see it.”
“It’s hard to believe that it was my 12th year hosting, and I will always treasure every show, from the 11 that I was so lucky to do with my partner-in-crime and friend for life, Brad Paisley, to sharing the stage with two of my all-time heroes,” Carrie went on to say.
“I’m so incredibly grateful to everyone involved with the CMA Awards all these years. It’s hard to imagine topping what we have accomplished together, so I’ve decided that it’s time to pass the hosting torch (at least for now!) to others that will cherish it and honor it as much as I do. I’ve got so many exciting things coming in the new year and beyond, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for all of us.”
The 2020 Country Music Awards will take place on April 5th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

]]>The show, titled Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, will be released on November 22. The series delves into the story of the country legend’s life. The characters of Dolly’s story are played by the likes of Ginnifer Goodwin, Kathleen Turner, Delta Burke, Melissa Leo, and Julianne Hough.
“They’re just stories, put to music,” Parton explains in the trailer. “The songs that I’ve written, they’re stories of my life. Every triumph, every struggle, every smile, every sorrow. It’s the melody of my memories. It’s the sound of my heartstrings.”
The series will revolve around eight of her songs, telling eight of her stories. The trailer offers up an image of each song on a vinyl followed up by snippets of scenes inspired by Dolly’s life.
Elsewhere in the trailer, we get a glimpse of Julianne Hough as Jolene, the woman who inspired Parton’s hit song of the same name. Although Parton’s first choice for the role was Miley Cyrus, Hough wound up as the woman to take on the honor of playing Jolene.

]]>The 71-year-old singer has had Top 20 hits for six consecutive decades, from the 1960s to 2010s. George Jones was close to holding a record, but in the seven decades he charted (the 1950s–1990s), he only had Top 20 hits in five of them. Dolly Parton has 74 top 20 hits, “Something Fishy” from 1967 being her first one and a new version of “Jolene” with Pentatonix from 2016 being the latest one.
“To receive these two Guinness World Records is so great. Joining so many wonderful singers and songwriters who have been honoured this way feels so special to me. You never know when you start out with your work how it’s going to turn out, but to have these two world records makes me feel very humbled and blessed!” – Dolly Parton commented on her success.
The 2016 version of “Jolene“ was also Parton’s 107th chart entry, earning her the Most hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart by a female artist record. In case you are wondering, the first one was her 1967 debut “Dumb Blonde.”
“I’ve always just written from my heart,” – she said about her songs. “I try not to dwell on just trying to be commercial and what’s a radio hit. Usually, when an idea hits me, it comes from my heart.”
