The Golden Globes kick off festivities every year, with this year’s ceremony taking place even earlier than usual on January 5. The Beverley Hills Hilton will be the venue for the glitzy event, which is often regarded as an office party, where everyone gets a little tipsy thanks to the bottles of booze on the tables. 

Ricky Gervais will be returning to hosting duties, even though he swore he never would (he promises that this is definitely his last time…), but the night is renowned for having various celebrities grace the stage to present awards. 

This year’s batch is set to include Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Tiffany Haddish, Charlize Theron, Will Ferrell, Tim Allen, Christian Bale, Antonio Banderas, Jason Bateman, Cate Blanchett, Matt Bomer, Pierce Brosnan, Glenn Close, Daniel Craig, Ted Danson, Ansel Elgort, Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning, Lauren Graham, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, Scarlett Johansson, Elton John, Nick Jonas, Zoe Kravitz, Jennifer Lopez, Rami Malek, Kate McKinnon, Jason Momoa, Helen Mirren, Gwyneth Paltrow, Amy Poehler, Margot Robbie, Paul Rudd, Wesley Snipes, Octavia Spencer, Sofia Vergara, Kerry Washington, Naomi Watts, and Rachel Weisz.

The Long Shot actress is set to reprise her role in the next chapter of The Fast and the Furious.

Theron joined the franchise for its eighth installment, Fate of the Furious, as a cyber-terrorist named Cipher.

Also joining Fast and Furious 9 will be Dame Helen Mirren, who we first saw as the mother of Jason Statham’s character in 2017.

Series stalwart Vin Diesel confirmed the casting announcements on Instagram in a video taken on set during the third week of filming.

Theron and Mirren are not the only familiar faces set to return.

Last month, Diesel revealed that his character’s sister would be included, meaning a return for Jordana Brewster. She was accompanied by a young boy who is believed to be the son of her character and that of the the late Paul Walker.

Fast and Furious 9 races back into cinemas on May 22nd, 2020.

As part of the press tour for their upcoming movie, Long Shot, Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen underwent a lie detector test conducted by Vanity Fair.

Each were hooked up to a device and had to answer questions from the other.

Is Ryan Reynolds or Ryan Gosling the nicer Canadian Ryan? Does Canada have more attractive politicians than the United States? These are questions the Atomic Blonde actress demanded to know from her co-star.

In response, Seth questioned Charlize about her native country of South Africa.

The 43-year-old was asked what is the most South African thing she could say, replying that they should have a little braai [barbecue] that night.

Charlize also described Seth in Afrikaans as as an “oulike ou” [cute guy] who is “baie snaaks” [very funny] and likes to “rook” [smoke weed].

The actress grew up in South Africa which pre-1994, when it was shrouded by Apartheid, which ordered the separation of citizens based upon the color of their skin.

Now, in 2018, and living in America, Charlize says that “racism is much more alive and well than people thought.”

The 42 year old made the comment in reference to her two young children—both of whom are black—that she adopted in 2012 and 2015.

“There are places in this country where, if I got a job, I wouldn’t take it. I wouldn’t travel with my kids to some parts of America, and that’s really problematic,” the Atomic Blonde star told Elle. “There are a lot of times when I look at my kids and I’m like, if this continues, I might have to [leave America]. Because the last thing I want is for my children to feel unsafe.”

She said that “being raised during the Apartheid era in South Africa made me so hyper-aware of equality and human rights.”

But the actress has a plan for her kids. “I want them to know who they are, and I want them to be so f—ing proud of who they are,” she said.

With a mother like Charlize we have no doubt they will.
