The Beverley Hills Hilton will be the venue for the glitzy event, which is often regarded as an office party, where everyone gets a little tipsy thanks to the bottles of booze on the tables. 

Ricky Gervais will be returning to hosting duties, even though he swore he never would (he promises that this is definitely his last time…), but the night is renowned for having various celebrities grace the stage to present awards.

Pitt is following in the footsteps of previous recipients Will Smith, George Clooney, and Peter Jackson who were honored with this award for enriching the culture through accomplishments in the motion picture industry.

The longtime Santa Barbara Film Festival moderator and renowned film critic Leonard Maltin described Pitt as “an ideal choice” to be presented with Maltin Modern Master Award this year, after delivering two amazing, critically acclaimed performances.

“Brad Pitt wears the mantle of Movie Star with good grace. He’s been giving great performances for several decades, but he makes it look so easy that I fear he’s been taken for granted,” said Maltin in a statement.

Modern Master Award probably won’t be the only accolade Pitt picks up this holiday season. He already received nominations for SAG, Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award for his supporting turn in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The Quentin Tarantino film which came out in August has been regarded as one of his best features and it earned a 10-minute standing ovation when it premiered at the Venice Film Festival. 

The movie, set in 1969, follows Leonardo DiCaprio who plays an aging television star whose series has been canceled. Along with his cameraman, portrayed by Brad Pitt, he attempts to work his way back into the industry which is no longer that which he recognizes. 

Pitt is so far the favourite to scoop up the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, which, if he wins, will be his first Academy Award for acting in his 32-year career. He already has an Oscar as a producer on 12 Years a Slave which won Best Picture in 2014. 

The studio behind Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is ensuring that the 55-year-old has the best chance in his category by submitting his co-star, DiCaprio, in that of Best Actor. 

Nominations for the 92^nd Academy Awards will be announced on January 13^th, 2020, with the ceremony scheduled for February 9^th.

Tarantino’s latest feature is currently being shown in cinemas. This hasn’t prevented Tarantino from thinking about what he wants to do next with the feature. It was recently shared that the director has been considering re-purposing the film as a mini-series. Now, Brad Pitt has confirmed that these talks have indeed been happening.

“Yeah he’s talked about it,” Pitt said when asked about the concept. “It’s a pretty arousing idea.”

“I’m curious to see if movies last, if movies stick around,” Pitt told the New York Times. “What I notice about the younger generation is that they’re used to receiving a lot of information at a much faster pace, and they’re more inclined to watch a short series of episodes where you can stay in it as long as you want or jump out whenever you get bored.”

Pitt also brought up the success of Hateful Eight, which was released as a mini-series on Netflix. The series included unseen footage from the film and was divided into four parts.

“It’s almost the best of both worlds,” he said. “You have the cinema experience that exists, but you can actually put more content in a series format.”

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is currently showing in cinemas.

Brad Pitt believes there is space for both.

The veteran actor, who has starred in over 80 productions, told GQ, “I really appreciate the streaming services because we’re seeing more and more quality projects being made. We’re seeing more writers and directors and actors getting a shot. It just tells you how many talented people are out there.”

On the “war” between tradition and the future, Pitt remained hopeful.

“I like to think there’s room for both,” the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor said. “But I could be a dinosaur and not even know it, man. And the comet could be on the way.”

According to Gus Van Sant, both Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt both passed on starring in the drama Brokeback Mountain. 

Van Sant who was originally considered to direct the 2006 drama revealed in an interview with IndieWire that, “Nobody wanted to do it. I was working on it, and I felt like we needed a really strong cast, like a famous cast. That wasn’t working out. I asked the usual suspects: Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Ryan Phillippe. They all said no.”

This was confirmed via email to the outlet by the film’s producer and screenwriter Diana Ossana who wrote, “Yes, all those young gentlemen (at the time) turned down the project, for various reasons.”

The film that chronicles the complicated love story of two cowboys earned considerable acclaim earning eight Oscars nominations (the most of any film that year) including best actor and best supporting actor for Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, respectively.

As for Van Sant not directing the film, he added, “I was not ready. I’m not sure why. There was just sort of a hiccup on my part. There was something off with myself, I guess, whatever was going on.”

According to Entertainment Tonight, the 42-year-old actress is back in the dating game.

A source has claimed that despite the fact “Brad and Angie [are] both very secretive about their dating life, Angie has told some friends she isn’t ready to date, but she has been seeing a handsome, older-looking man who is a real estate agent. He isn’t a celebrity or high profile in any way.”

The source also alleges that “Angie was in a very bad place after [her] split [from Brad]. Just having another adult to spend time with has been helpful.”

Things are reportedly so bad between the pair that, despite having attempted to undergo therapy with their 6 children, they can “barely be in the same room together.”
