]]>Endgame walked away with the biggest award of the night – the best film of the year – but it also won the awards for best action movie and best male movie star (Robert Downey Jr.). Spider-Man: Far From Home came in second with two awards that went to its stars Zendaya and Tom Holland.
Despite the fact Game of Thrones led the list of nominations in the TV field, Stranger Things dominated this ceremony. The best show award went to the beloved Netflix sci-fi show, but this series also won an additional two trophies – best drama show and best female TV star (Millie Bobby Brown).
When it came to music categories, strong fan base of K-pop group BLACKPINK helped them scoop three major awards – best group, best concert tour and best music video for “Kill This Love”. List of winners also included Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes, and Taylor Swift.

]]>Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel was teased in the end credits of Avengers: Infinity War and was given her first stand-alone movie earlier this year. When it came to the final showdown, however, she was nowhere to be seen. Other than a brief appearance at the start of the movie and a last-minute swoop in towards the end, she was absent throughout.
In a new interview with Vanity Fair, writers Cristopher Markus and Stephen McFeely explained why the superhero had such a small part in the Endgame events.
Markus revealed that the main problem they had with Captain Marvel was that she is far too powerful: “She was always going to be in it, but we didn’t have much to go on. They had cast her and that was it. It is a tough balance to strike when you have a character that powerful who you’re going to bring in, and you don’t want it to seem like, well we just brought in this person who can clean the house that we couldn’t clean in the previous movie.”
He added: “We had to decide on a balance between not making it feel like a cameo but not having her around so much that she solved all of the problems for everybody.”
McFeely also commented: “The point of the second movie was saying goodbye to the original six Avengers, so their stories were gonna be way up here… It was not fair to the other six Avengers to have Captain Marvel come in and solve all their problems, it didn’t seem like good storytelling.”

]]>The feature wraps up the last 22 Marvel films, bringing to an end this phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Endgame opened internationally to much fanfare, hitting number one in 25 different countries. Domestically was no different as it topped the chart throughout its opening weekend.
The fruits of its labor have now earned an astounding $350 million at the domestic box office and an even more impressive $1.2 billion globally.
The figures mean that Endgame now holds the records for Largest Domestic Opening Weekend, Largest International Opening Weekend, and Biggest Weekend Overall, among many more. It also managed to gain $350 million in just 3 days, beating the previous record of six.
Many of the records were previously held by the movie’s predecessor, Avengers: Infinity War.
They’ve certainly avenged the box office.

]]>The final episode in this phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe opened internationally on Wednesday in countries such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Greece, and Egypt.
The release broke records around the world — having the highest opening day in those countries — and earning $107.5 million on its opening night in China, making it the highest-ever grossing Hollywood film in the region.
The film opened in the United Kingdom on Thursday, meaning Britain was not even a part of the record-breaking $169 million global intake.
It is possible — and even likely — that the movie will reach $1 billion in its opening weekend.
Doesn’t seem like even Thanos can stop it.

]]>Avengers: Endgame, which comes out on April 26th, is the follow-up to last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, and will wrap up phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With half of the superheroes having been turned to dust by Thanos, and the remainder seeking revenge for their deaths, you could say there’s a lot at stake!
And so, directors Anthony and Joe Russo are begging fans to avoid spoiling the film for others once they have seen it.
“Because so many of you have invested your time, your hearts, and your souls into these stories, we’re once again asking for your help,” the brothers wrote in a letter to fans. “When you see Endgame in the coming weeks, please don’t spoil it for others, the same way you wouldn’t want it spoiled for you. Remember, Thanos still demands your silence.”
The #DontSpoilTheEndgame campaign follows reports of footage from the film being leaked.
Someone best tell Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland, too!

]]>We are fortunate enough to be getting two doses of the dynamic superheroine this year.
Brie Larson’s stand-alone film — the first solo feature starring a female Marvel character — has already made over $500 million worldwide, and now we have confirmation that she will be appearing in Avengers: Endgame.
The events of Avengers: Infinity War left many of our favorite characters in rather poor predicaments, thanks to Thanos.
The new trailer reflects the somber tone, with Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, and Hawkeye all looking determined to avenge their fallen compatriots.
There is also indication that some new characters will be on the scene. Particularly Kate Bishop, who takes on the mantle of Hawkeye after Jeremy Renner’s character dies.
We wish them all luck when Avengers: Endgame hits screens on April 26th!
