]]>Last month, Netflix announced that it would be cancelling The Punisher and Jessica Jones, bringing to an end Marvel’s run on television.
And now, over on The CW, we’re having to say goodbye to another fan favorite.
After 8 seasons, DC’s Arrow will be coming to an end.
“This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of Arrow in mind,” said executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Beth Schwartz in a statement.
“We’re heartened by the fact that Arrow has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come. We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and — more importantly — the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.”
Arrow has been the parent of several other The CW shows in the same universe including The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and the upcoming Batwoman.
The final season will consist of 10 episodes.

According to the outlet, the actress will star as Maya, a scrappy street fighter and thief from Star City.
Season 7 of Arrow will see Oliver Queen in jail, living alongside a host of the criminals he’s put away. Showrunner Beth Schwartz teased:
“We sort of wanted to write to the real of what that situation would look like if he was locked up with a bunch of previous villains that he’d previously put in there, and they’re now on the same playing field. There’s so much conflict there. He can’t do things the way he did them as the Green Arrow. The rules are different in prison.”
Arrow returns Monday, October 15.
