Maya Rudolph and Natasha Lyonne team with Cirocco Dunlap on a new animated sci-fi series for Amazon. 

Dunlap, who is a writer and supervising producer on Lyonne’s acclaimed Netflix series Russian Doll, will write and executive produce the forthcoming series. Lyonne, Rudolph and Animal Pictures’ Danielle Renfrew Behrens will also exec produce.

The series will follow Sleech and Klak, two brilliant alien doctors who specialize in rare sci-fi illnesses. When Sleech defies protocol and contracts a disease from another dimension, the heroes must find a cure before the universe is destroyed.

“Cirocco is an incredibly gifted and hilarious talent and we can’t wait to share her irreverent and existential point of view: a sci-fi world so deep and so strange and so animated,” Rudolph and Lyonne said in a statement.

Amazon has already put The Hospital into active development.

There’s a lot more love left to explore!

The New York Times column, Modern Love was adapted into a series by Amazon Prime which debuted on its streaming service last week. 

The anthology series depicts love in its various forms, including sexual, romantic, familial, platonic, and self-love.

Set in New York City, the series featured famous faces throughout its episodes such as Anne Hathaway, Catherine Keener, Dev Patel, Andrew Scott, Cristin Milioti, and Ed Sheeran, amongst others. 

A whole new set of stars will now have an opportunity to appear, as the series has been renewed for a second season. 

“Since its debut just last week, the reaction to Modern Love from viewers has been incredible,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. “It’s a show with so much emotion and warmth – every episode touches the heart in a different way. We’re so excited we’ll be able to bring our global Prime Video customers more of the beautiful stories of romance, friendship, and family from Modern Love.”

John Carney, who created the series and served as writer, director, and executive producer, will once again act as showrunner as he brings us more tales of love in 2020.

Blake Lively is in talks to develop a new fashion series with Amazon. 

It looks like the 31-year-old actress might be making her return to the small screen. According to Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke, Lively will develop a new scripted show with the streaming service. The news was announced on Wednesday at the Vanity Fair Establishment Summit.

While Salke didn’t say much, she did reveal that she and the Gossip Girl alum met in New York and talked about making an original show with a fashion/shopping twist to it. 

According to Deadline, Salke said, I told business affairs I’m going to do this.”, Realizing that the announcement might come as news to Lively, she added, “She’s in Rome, asleep. She’ll wake up to it.”

Salke took over as head of Amazon Studios following Roy Prince’s exit due to harassment allegations. Working to ensure such things won’t happen again, she said, “There had been a coming together at the company since that time. I never met Roy Price. I can’t speak to him personally,” Salke said. “There had been a lot of negativity and trauma around the company.”
