]]>The Oscar-winning actress has joined the cast of Amazon’s adaptation of Pretty Things, a novel by Janelle Brown. Kidman will star as one of the leads in the story about “Two wildly different women—one a grifter, the other an heiress—are brought together by the scam of a lifetime.”
Brown will adapt the novel to series with Handmaid’s Tale helmer Reed Morano attached to direct.
Amazon won the rights to the novel following a highly competitive race with multiple bidders. The series will be produced under the Kidman’s Blossom Films production company.

]]>Upload, a sci-fi afterlife series, will be 10-episodes starring Robbie Amell (The Flash, The Tomorrow People) as Nathan, an app developer who has to make a life or death decision after a horrific accident. Nathan must choose between surgery or dying with digital immortality. After choosing the latter, his consciousness is “uploaded” to a virtual afterlife.
The show will follow Nathan’s journey in the glamorous afterlife community of Lakewood, where his girlfriend (Allegra Edwards) and her family have a house. In this fantasy world, Nathan has access to anything he ever wanted as long as he can pay for it via in-app purchases. But Nora (Andy Allo) has a crush on Nathan, and she might get in the way of his happily ever after.
Upload is set to be released on Amazon Prime on May 1st.

]]>While some, like Steven Spielberg, vehemently believe that films produced by such services should not be eligible for Oscars, but Emmys instead, it has not yet stopped features like Netflix’s Roma sweeping awards ceremonies.
Brad Pitt believes there is space for both.
The veteran actor, who has starred in over 80 productions, told GQ, “I really appreciate the streaming services because we’re seeing more and more quality projects being made. We’re seeing more writers and directors and actors getting a shot. It just tells you how many talented people are out there.”
On the “war” between tradition and the future, Pitt remained hopeful.
“I like to think there’s room for both,” the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor said. “But I could be a dinosaur and not even know it, man. And the comet could be on the way.”
We’ll have to wait and see.

]]>While This Is Us is on hiatus between its third and fourth season, the award-winning actor has booked himself a role on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The series’ main star, Rachel Brosnahan, has previously said that Brown would be her top choice for a guest role, and it appears as though the powers-that-be were listening.
“The Palladinos were kind enough to write something for your boy, and I said yes. So stay tuned. I’m getting together with Midge, and it’s gonna be awesome,” Brown said, announcing the good news.
Never having done stand-up, the 43-year-old is known for being a pretty funny guy (Randall Pearson would be proud) so it is possible that he could play a comic in season three of the Amazon Prime series.
We’re already putting our hands together.
