]]>Just two days after Warner Bros. confirmed that Alec Baldwin has been tapped to star in a key supporting role on the upcoming standalone Joker movie, the 60-year-old actor announced that he’s no longer attached to the project.
The actor told USA Today on Wednesday that he’s “no longer doing that movie,” due to “scheduling issues.” He even went on to diss the role adding, “I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part.”
Just in case someone hadn’t heard or wasn’t sure he also shared this on Twitter: “Let me state, for the record, that I have NOT been hired to play a role in Todd Phillips’ JOKER as some Donald Trump manque. That is not happening. Not. Happening.”
Baldwin was supposed to portray Thomas Wayne, father of Bruce Wayne aka Batman opposite Joaquin Phoenix as his arch nemesis Joker. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the character was set to be a take on Baldwin’s comic Saturday Night Live Trump character.
The Todd Phillips helmed feature “centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of a man disregarded by society is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.”
