Prince Anders, played by Billy Magnussenת is a character that made its debut in the live-action remake. Just in case you don’t remember, Anders is the hilarious visiting royal who was vying for Princess Jasmine’s hand in marriage. Disney is planning to explore a whole new world.

Following the success of the live-action version of Aladdin, the studio is considering producing a sequel.

The remake of the 1992 animated film came out in May and earned over $1 million worldwide.

The box office success of the Guy Ritchie feature has prompted Disney to look into taking a magic carpet ride down the sequel route.

“We certainly, when we first made the movie, wanted to just make the best movie we could and let audiences tell us if they wanted to see more. And I would say resoundingly audiences want to see more. They’ve watched this movie multiple times. We have lots of fan letters about people who really go back and they bring their friends and bring their family. And so we feel like there’s more story to tell,” said producer Dan Lin.

“We are going to treat it the same way we treat the original Aladdin movie and not going to do a shot by shot remake of anything that’s been done before. We’re really looking at what’s been done before in the past and the home video, and there’s just more story to tell with the underlying materials. So without giving away too much, we are certainly exploring where we can go with this franchise.”

Mena Massoud, who played the titular character, has said that he would be keen for a follow-up, and we’re sure Naomi Scott and Will Smith would follow suit.

The Guy Ritchie-helmed live action remake of Aladdin has had an impressive Memorial Day weekend debut.

Hauling $7 million on Thursday and $31 million and Friday from 4,476 North American theaters the remake of the Disney classic is estimated to gross grand total of $109 million over its four-day Memorial Day opening weekend.

This will make Aladdin the sixth-highest Memorial Day weekend debut ever, behind 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, which hauled $110.5 million.

The feature stars Mena Massoud as the titular character opposite Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Will Smith as the Genie. Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, and Billy Magnussen co-star. Ritchie directed from a script he co-worte with John August.

We’re seeing a whole new world, thanks to Zayn and Zhavia Ward.

Later this month, Disney will be releasing the live-action remake of its 1992 classic, Aladdin.

Mena Massoud will be taking on the role of the beloved street urchin, while Naomi Scott will fill the shoes of Princess Jasmine, and Will Smith will bring the Genie to life.

In anticipation for the new film, we have our first taste of the soundtrack.

Just like Ariana Grande and John Legend did a do-over of the Beauty and the Beast titular theme song, Zayn and Zhavia are now lending their pipes to “A Whole New World.”

Unbelievable sights and indescribable feelings feature in the video, which was shot in Manhattan.

“The selection of artists, producer, and tonal direction was critical for the success of updating a classic song like this,” said President of Walt Disney Studio’s Music & Soundtracks, Mitchell Leib. “Zayn’s vocals are like no other and his artistic imprint immediately brought a contemporary and diverse presence.”

And it doesn’t hurt that he looks quite a lot like Aladdin!

We’ll get a new fantastic point of view when Aladdin opens on the 24th of May.

Feeling a bit blue?

Probably not as blue as the new Genie!

With just months to go until we get a fresh take on Disney’s Aladdin, the studio has given us our first look at the world of Agrabah.

The trailer for the forthcoming live-action feature was unveiled during the Grammys and immediately transported every ‘90s kid back to their childhood.

Starring Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, and Will Smith, the film is one of the two remakes that Disney will be releasing this year (FYI, the other is The Lion King).

With the signature score from the 1992 original playing in the background, the trailer features Jafar, Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, the colorful sites of Agrabah, and, of course, the Genie.

However, the blue character played by Smith has not gone down as well as hoped, with audiences calling him everything from terrifying, to making comparisons to the Smurfs and Avatar

Producers and director Guy Ritchie will likely be using his 3 wishes to ensure the film still does well when it is released on May 24th, 2019.

Mena Massoud, who plays the titular character, has revealed that the upcoming live-action version of the tale from Agraba will feature not one, but two new songs!

It is hardly surprising when you realize that the film, helmed by Guy Ritchie, has hired Oscar-winning composing duo from La La Land, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

“We’ve got all the original music in there, plus a couple of new songs,” Mena told Variety. “They’re really empowering. I gotta say one is very empowering for women, I think people are going to really, really dig it. The other one is awesome as well. We got the same guys who did La La Land and The Greatest Showman, we’re in good hands.”
