The Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile actor was in Papua New Guinea to film his television show Killing Zac Efron, and it appears as though something almost did… 

He contracted what is likely a typhoid infection, which is sometimes found in contaminated food or water in the region. The diagnosis, which occurred shortly before the holidays, resulted in Efron being airlifted to the Australian city of Brisbane to receive emergency medical treatment.

According to reports, the 32-year-old actor spent several nights at St. Andrews War Memorial Hospital, but was allowed to fly back to the United States on Christmas Eve to spend the festive season with his family. 

Following the story being shared (and many fans expressing concern over his current condition), Efron decided to allay their fears via Instagram. 

Sharing a photo of himself surrounded by local kids, the actor wrote, “Very thankful to everyone who has reached out. I did get sick in Papua New Guinea but I bounced back quick and finished an amazing 3 weeks in P.N.G. I’m home for the holidays with my friends and family. Thanks for all the love and concern, see you in 2020!”

We’re happy he’s on the mend!

The Greatest Showman star didn’t let the rain bother him as he made his way to the Boston Marathon to support his brother.

Dylan Efron was running the race for the first time and completed the endeavor in 2 hours and 57 minutes.

Along the way, he had a brilliant cheerleader (perhaps he can thank all that time in High School Musical) encouraging him from the sidelines.

In a video posted on Instagram, the 30-year-old actor can be heard cheering his brother on as he crosses the finish line.

Zac states in the caption, “Ima be at every [race] with you from here until forever, Brother,” which is enough to melt hearts everywhere.

As if that wasn’t enough of a display of brotherly love, the video also shows Zac embracing his younger sibling, who posted his own Insta pic saying that Zac waiting for him at the finish line was all the motivation he needed.

Mr. and Mrs. Efron must be so proud.

Jackman, dressed in ringmaster costume, kicked off the show singing solo followed by a fully choreographed routine with his cast mates. After his part, the camera turned to Efron, wearing a mustache, and Zendaya, in pink wig, singing and dancing on a building.

Keala Settle, who plays the Bearded Lady in the movie, joined the rest of the gang as the camera showed many dancers filled the streets of the set. Jackman did a tricky top hat flip as more dancers in colourful costumes joined for the big finale, featuring several circus performers together with the main cast.

The whole presentation took three minutes only, but the cast revealed on social media how intensive their rehearsals were.

Jackman shared some of their rehearsals, writing, “No turning back now … T minus 4 hours-ish. FOX. LIVE. COMMERCIAL. TONIGHT.”

The Greatest Showman opens in theaters tomorrow. The movie has already earned a few Golden Globe nods. Jackman has been nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture in the Musical or Comedy category, and the song “This Is Me” for Best Original Song. The movie is also nominated for Best Motion Picture in the Musical or Comedy category.
