This is the one where Netflix declares, “We were on a break!”

Last week, the news broke that the much-beloved NBC comedy would be navigating from its regular binge-watching home to another streaming service — HBO Max.

The title belongs to the new platform created by WarnerMedia, which will launch in the spring of 2020.

While Netflix previously outbid Warner to keep Monica, Chandler, Rachel, Ross, Phoebe, and Joey on its screens, Warner won this round by putting down $85 million a year.

With Friends set to appear on HBO Max for five years, that comes to a grand total of $425 million!

“We’re sorry to see Friends go to Warner’s steaming service at the beginning of 2020 (in the US),” Netflix tweeted after WarnerMedia’s announcement. “Thanks for the memories, gang.”

No one told us binge-watching was gonna be this way…
