Tom Hardy is actively working on making the dreams of comic fans come true. In a recent interview with Esquire, Hardy admitted that he is campaigning for a movie that would put Marvel’s superhero Spider-Man and Venom, one of Spider-Man’s most famous enemies, on the big screen together.

Hardy starred as Eddie Brock/Venom in the 2018’s blockbuster hit based on the character and returns to the role in the upcoming sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Spider-Man is currently played by Tom Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I would be remiss if I wasn’t trying to steer any kind of connectivity,” said Hardy about Spider-Man and Venom crossover. “I wouldn’t be doing the job if I wasn’t awake and open to any opportunity or eventuality or be excited by that.”

Venom originally started as a villain from Marvel’s Spider-Man comics. He was later reinvented as an antiheroic figure and received his own series of comics. But despite being part of the same comic world, getting these two characters in the same movie would be challenging.

The biggest issue is that Sony currently owns the movie rights to Venom, while Disney owns the rights to Spider-Man after acquiring 21st Century Fox.  Getting these two studios to set aside their differences and commit to making a movie together is not an easy task, and Hardy is well aware of that. But that doesn’t mean he’ll give up.

“Should both sides be willing, and it would be beneficial to both sides, I don’t see why it couldn’t be,” he added. “I hope and strongly, with both hands, push, eagerly, towards that potential, and would do anything to make that happen, within what’s right in business.”

Hardy will have plenty of time to work towards this agenda as he already signed on to star in the third Venom movie.

Tom Hardy is a man of many talents, but we bet you didn’t think rapping was one of them. It turns out that before he turned to acting, Hardy dreamt about being a rapper. Thanks to British director Edward Tracy, we are now able to hear a full rap mixtape from Tom Hardy, and judge whether he would be better off on a music stage. Tracy, who produced the mixtape back in 1999, posted it on Bandcamp under the name Falling on Your Arse in 1999, crediting Tom Hardy as Tommy No 1 and himself as Eddie Too Tall.

“Made in a bedroom 1999 these mixtapes were never really finished. Lyrics written and performed by Tom Hardy. Music written and produced by Ed Tracy. Thanks for all the positive vibes and support for these tunes! Peace, Ed x” – wrote Tracy in the description.

If you are eager to hear Tommy No 1 dropping lyrics over hard beats, you can do so below.

“I started out rapping when I was 14 or 15.” Hardy described his rap career in an interview with BBC. “Because I come from a nice middle-class neighborhood it was a very hard sell. And I wasn’t very good!”

It isn’t like he wasn’t in good hands, since he collaborated with people who sooner or latter found success in music.

“I used to be with the guy who managed Leela James and Lauren Hill, Pras, the Fugees and all that.” – he added. “I worked out with Warren Riker and Gordon Williams. I’ve recorded loads of stuff but it’s never been released.”

Tom Hardy never managed to become Dr. Dre or Eminem, but at least we got to enjoy his acting talents. After the movies Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and Mad Max: Fury Road, Hardy is ready to bring another big hit with the upcoming Venom movie in which he plays the titular role.
