Taika Waititi is crossing the great comic book divide.

Most people are asked to nail their colors to the mast and choose Marvel or DC, but the New Zealand filmmaker has decided not to.

Waititi played the role of Korg in Thor: Ragnarok, which he directed in 2017. He then followed that up by reprising the role in this year’s final film in the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Endgame.

Reports have now claimed that Waititi will be hopping across the metaphorical pond to the world of DC, where he will be joining the Suicide Squad sequel.

Production on the James Gunn feature is scheduled to begin on September 23rd, with Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Idris Elba already onboard.

But don’t worry, Marvel fans. Waititi will be back in the MCU to helm Thor: Love and Thunder, which will see Natalie Portman taking on the role of a female Thor.

The latter will be out on November 3rd 2021, while The Suicide Squad debuts on August 4th 2021.

The actor received a huge applause as he was introduced at the premiere screening at the El Capitan Theatre. He briefly recorded the audience to capture the moment, but then forgot to turn it off before putting it back in his pocket.

Around 2,500 people saw the live stream and commented over how long it would take before Ruffalo ended the broadcast. The whole time, the audio recording was crystal clear. He stopped it at around 8:15 p.m.
