The series’ final season will be two episodes shorter than planned, and an early series finale has been set. 

The 18th episode of the Taraji P. Henson and Terrance Howard-led drama will now serve as the finale due to the Coronavirus. 

According to Deadline, producers are expected to weave some of the footage from episode 19 into the now series finale to “create a more seamless overall ending.” 

Empire is one of only two series whose final season shoots were impacted by production shutdown. Empire joins The CW’s Supernatural, which ended up airing 13 episodes during its current season.

This year’s Primetime Emmy Awards will follow its film cousin, The Oscars, by not having a main host.

Instead, celebrities will be presenting the selected categories throughout the night, with the elite group now being revealed.

Stephen Colbert, Viola Davis, Michael Douglas, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and Billy Porter, who are all nominated for awards, will be pulling presenter duty alongside Angela Bassett, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Peter Krause, Naomi Watts, and Zendaya.

Game of Thrones is the frontrunner in many of the categories, with the final season of the HBO series picking up 32 nominations.

The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards will be held at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre on September 22nd.

The Empire actress has opened up about her own struggle — in an attempt to reach others that there is nothing to be ashamed of.

“The misconception about celebrities [is] that we have it all together and we’re perfect, and we’re not. Our kids aren’t perfect, we’re suffering and struggling just like the regular person and money doesn’t help,” she said at the launch of her non-profit organization The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation.

The organization is named after her father who battled mental health challenges after serving in the Vietnam War.

Taraji’s 24-year-old son, Marcell, also developed mental health issues following the murder of his father in 2003.

“It was like looking for a unicorn,” she said of her search for an African-American psychiatrist who would understand what he was going through. “And the reason that happens is because we don’t talk about it in our community; it’s taboo, it’s looked upon as a weakness or we’re demonized for expressing rage for traumas we’ve been through. I have a lot of white friends and that’s what got me going. They say, ‘You don’t talk to anybody? Girl, I’m going to see my shrink every Thursday at 3 o’clock.’ So I was like why don’t we do that in our community?”

The 48-year-old raised money for the organisation by selling personal items from her closet at an event over the weekend.

The NPO’s first project will be to bring art to bathrooms in inner-city schools which are often graffitied with messages of bullying and hate.

The 47-year-old has been very private regarding her relationship, but revealed during a podcast of Essence’s Yes, Girl!: “I’m happy in my personal life. Finally, it has happened to me! I’m not the type to blast my personal business, but you know, I think that it’s important for people to know that I’m happy. I’m very, very happy. I just am. We’ve been together for two years. And no one would really know that, because I don’t blast my info like that, but I’m very happy.”

During a Mother’s Day celebration (Taraji has a 24-year-old son), Kelvin popped the question, and she, of course, said yes.
