]]>With less than two months to go until the long-awaited film opens in theatres, Disney and LucasFilm have released its final trailer. With hopes already high for the ninth installment in the Star Wars series, the clip does not disappoint!
Daisy Ridley returns as Rey and we see the last known Jedi in the very first shot. The Rise of Skywalker is set a year after the events depicted in The Last Jedi as the remaining members of the Resistance come up against the First Order yet again. As this is the final piece of the Skywalker saga, the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith reaches its climax…
In addition to Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd will also be reprising their roles. Leftover footage from The Force Awakens has also been used to posthumously include the late Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa. Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell, Matt Smith, and Dominic Monaghan join the film as new additions.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker enters theatres on December 20th.

]]>The Lost alum and Lord of the Rings star is officially heading to a galaxy far, far away and joins the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX.
Monaghan’s desire to join the franchise goes back to 2014 when he talked with Abrams about the possibility of joining the cast.
“Give me a lightsaber, I’ll do anything,” Monaghan told DweebCast at the time. “[Abrams] said, ‘We’re putting together a cast of unknowns. We want to follow the ’77 New Hope cast because obviously, Harrison Ford wasn’t well known at that point, Mark Hamill wasn’t and Carrie Fisher wasn’t either.”
“What he said was, ‘We don’t want to fall into that mistake of people going, ‘Oh, it’s that guy from that thing!’ and then you’re completely out of the Star Wars universe,’” he explained.
Monaghan took to social media to tease his participation in the franchise, sharing a post with a phrase from Obi-Wan Kenobi with the caption, “Seems apropos.” While there’s no officially confirmation of the casting from Lucasfilm or Disney, Monaghan did give a quote to Deadline saying, “The galaxy far far away has had almost as much influence as the one I live in, so I am delighted to be involved.”

]]>In a recent interview, Collider decided to ask Mark Hamill, who plays the role of Luke Skywalker in the space saga, to give his own opinion on this matter, and here is what the 66-year-old actor had to say.
“I don’t know what the specific plans were for that character, but since Han was more prominent in VII, Luke was more prominent in VIII, we assumed that Leia would be more prominent in IX, especially with the dynamic of Kylo Ren being her son,” Hamill said. “I think it would be tough recasting because she’s so indelibly linked to that character. They’ve already ruled out the idea of computer generating her performance like they did with Peter Cushing, so gee, that’s got to be a really, not an insurmountable problem, but … I know the script had been developed enough so when we lost her they had to go back to square one. She’s irreplaceable as far as I’m concerned.”
Principal photography for Star Wars: Episode IX will begin in July 2018, with the release date being scheduled for December 20, 2019. J.J. Abrams will direct and serve as a co-writer with Chris Terrio after Colin Trevorrow exited the project in 2017.
