]]>It was a big night for HBO’s teen drama, which managed to beat the likes of Inventing Anna, Loki, Squid Game, Ted Lasso, and Yellowstone to win the award for the best show. It collected trophies in three more categories—the best performance in a show (Zendaya), best fight (Maddy vs Cassie), and “Here for the Hookup” award.
Spider-Man: No Way Home came into this year’s ceremony with a total of seven nominations, just like Euphoria, but only managed to win two of them. It was named the best movie of the year, defeating Scream, The Batman, The Adam Project, Shang-Chi, and Dune. Its star Tom Holland also walked away with one of the night’s biggest honors—the award for the best performance in a movie.
The 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards were held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on June 5 with Vanessa Hudgens and Tayshia Adams serving as hosts.

]]>Shang-Chi and Spider-Man are both competing for a total of five awards, including the best superhero movie. They’ll be in a pretty good company in this field since the list of nominees also includes Black Widow, Eternals, The Suicide Squad, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
When it comes to the rest of the contenders at this award ceremony, Don’t Look Up, The Harder They Fall, No Time to Die, and The Suicide Squad had a pretty good showing, with four nods each.
The television field brought many surprises our way, with Evil and Midnight Mass tying for most nominations with six. Disney+ shows WandaVision and Loki were close behind with five nods each, while Netflix’s record-breaking Korean drama Squid Game received four.
The Critics’ Choice Association introduced the Critics’ Choice Super Awards last year, as a way of honoring fan-favorite genres that rarely get celebrated at traditional award shows. The upcoming ceremony will take place on March 17th.
