The two untitled Spider-Man sequels were pushed back by Sony Pictures for several months as Hollywood studios are still trying to fix their release schedules due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sony Pictures announced on Friday that Marvel-Sony’s Spider-Man Far From Home sequel would be moved from July 16, 2021, to November 5, 2021. Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel was also delayed by six months from April 8, 2022, to October 7, 2022.

Spider-Man Far From Home, starring Tom Holland was one of 2019’s most successful films, grossing $1.13 billion in box offices worldwide. The untitled film will be the third installment in the franchise, which began with 2017’s Spider-Man Homecoming.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won last year’s Academy Award for the best-animated movie, grossing $375 million worldwide.

Holland’s video-game adaptation Uncharted was moved from October 8, 2021, to July 16, 2021.

Since first springing onto the scene in 1962, Spider-Man has always been, well, a man.

But that seems about to change.

Sony Pictures has been planning to expand its web that is the Spidey universe and it seems to have caught a woman in its gossamer.

The studio has announced that it will be developing an animated film starring a superhero known as Spider-Woman.

The flick, written by Bek Smith of Zoo, will feature 3 generations of women all with Spidey powers.

It is possible that one of the characters could be Spider-Gwen.

The film will form part of the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse venture which features the voices of Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, and Lily Tomlin, and is set for release on the 14th of December.
