“I have been a series regular on this show for roughly ten years. I was the tender age of fifteen when we shot the pilot, and I came of age in so many ways, both legally and personally,” he wrote. “All good things come to an end. An old cliche, but one that rings true with a sincerity and clarity especially in moments like these.”

The Shameless episode dated the 14th of October will be the actor’s last.

Variety confirms that the Married With Children and Friend’s alums are is to play recurring roles on the Showtime comedy. 

Sagal will play Ingrid, a psych patient who catches Frank’s (William H. Macy) eye, while Cox will play Jen Wagner, a famous actress who hires fellow recovering alcoholic Lip (Jeremy Allen White) to be her sober companion, and then takes him on an epic search for a cocktail.

The upcoming and ninth season of the hit show will air in two parts this fall and winter. Season nine is an expanded order consisting of fourteen episodes. The first part returns September 9 and the second will include Shameless’ landmark 100th episode.
