The Summer Olympics won’t be taking place this year after all, but that’s not stopping Sam Smith and Demi Lovato from holding their own in the new music video for their highly-anticipated collaboration “I’m Ready”.

The playful visual, directed by Jora Frantzis, sees the two stars competing in a number of Olympic disciplines, side by side with several LGBT+ performers and drag queens, including Valentina and Gigi Goode from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

“I’m Ready” will be featured on Smith’s upcoming third studio album, and working with Lovato was a game-changer because they see her as an authentic pop star who isn’t scared of laying all her cards out on the table.

“I think in this pop world that we’re in … we get characters presented to us. She has never been afraid to lean into the uncomfortable when it comes to herself and her story and what she’s gone through,” said the British singer during a recent appearance on SiriusXM Hits 1’s Morning Mash Up.

Sing hallelujah, because we have a new track from the Judy Garland biopic!

Renée Zellweger embodies the late actress and singer in the new film Judy which examines Garland’s life the year before she died when she undertook a string of concerts at London’s Talk of the Town.

Zellweger lent her own voice to the role, covering The Wizard of Oz star’s most famous songs such as “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, and “Get Happy”.

The latter was originally performed in the 1950 film Summer Stock, with the Judy soundtrack version being a duet between Zellweger and Sam Smith.

“When I was 17 years old, I did a project on Judy Garland for my Film Studies A-Level,” the “How Do You Sleep?” singer shared in a statement. “I was immediately immersed into the magic of Judy and her incredibly brave and triumphant story. She has remained as one of the icons of my life. She was one of the bravest humans out there and her vulnerability and honesty in her art still gives me goosebumps like it did the first time. It was truly an honor to sing with Renée. Nobody could have played Judy as well as Renée, and it is a career highlight for me to be singing with her, and in some small way, with Judy. I hope everyone loves the film as much as I did.”

Judy premiered on September 27th, with the soundtrack released the same day.

Sam Smith has revealed that their preferred pronouns are “them/they.”

Earlier this year, the talented singer-songwriter revealed that they identify as non-binary. Now, Smith has decided to clarify their pronouns in a bid to embrace who they really are.

“Today is a good day so here goes. I’ve decided I am changing my pronouns to THEY/THEM. After a lifetime of being at war with my gender I’ve decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out,” Smith wrote on Twitter.

“I’m so excited and privileged to be surrounded by people that support me in this decision but I’ve been very nervous about announcing this because I care too much about what people think but f**k it!

“I understand there will be many mistakes and mis-gendering but all I ask is you please please try. I hope you can see me like I see myself now. Thank you.”

Smith explained that the journey is one they are still on and that they are learning day by day what it means to be non-binary. The star opened the floor to questions and finished the Tweet with one poignant request: “Be kind.”

Sam Smith wants to know “How Do You Sleep at Night?”

After teasing the new song for weeks, the English singer has finally dropped the full version of the single, which is likely to be part of his upcoming third album.

The song illustrates the broken trust in a relationship, with the Grammy and Oscar winner singing, “Baby, how do you sleep when you lie to me… What have I become / Looking through your phone now.”

In addition to releasing the song. Smith also treated fans to a music video.

Backed by a chorus of dancers, the “Dancing with a Stranger” singer pulls out his own dancing moves in a slow but sultry manner.

Smith previously stated on Twitter that the video has brought out his “inner dancing queen”.
