Lets hear it for the boys.

Neil Patrick Harris has become the latest cast member to sign on to Russell T. Davies’ upcoming series which examines the AIDS epidemic during the ‘80s.

Titled Boys, the five-part drama follows the lives of three friends who move to London at the beginning of the decade and the impact which the disease has on their lives as wells that of their loved ones.

Stephen Fry, Olly Alexander, Keeley Hawes, Tracy Ann Oberman, Shaun Dooley, Omari Douglas, Callum Scott Howells, and Lydia West are already set to star, with Patrick Harris being the most recent addition.

“I’m so pleased, and incredibly proud, to be a part of Russell T Davies’ new series,” he said. “This drama, Boys, is two things: it is an irresistible, funny, jubilant story of young people discovering their true identities and the unalloyed joy of living life to the fullest, it is also a deeply resonant exploration of a decade when so many of these lives were cut short by the devastating effects of the nascent AIDS pandemic. Russell’s scripts chart the highs and lows of this time so beautifully and deftly, it’s an honour to help tell this story.”

Boys is scheduled to broadcast in 2020.

With all the reboots underway, British series Queer As Folk seems to have been caught up in the wave.

The original series, created by Russell T. Davies and featuring Aidan Gillen, Charlie Hunnam, and Craig Kelly, was regarded as revolutionary for the LGBTQ community’s representation in television, despite only airing 10 episodes between 1999 and 2000.

The subsequent American remake, starring Gale Harold, Randy Harrison, Hal Sparks, Peter Paige, and Scott Lowell, proved far more popular, running for 5 seasons.

Davies is expected to serve as executive producer of the new version which will be made by Bravo and feature new characters in a new setting that is unlikely to be either Manchester or Pittsburgh like its predecessors.
