Rupert Grint didn’t have the most conventional entrance into stardom.

The actor was a mere 12 years old when he starred as Ron Weasley in the first Harry Potter film — a series for which he will always be known, even as a now-30-year-old.

“There were definitely times when I thought about leaving,” he told The Guardian. “Filming Harry Potter was a massive sacrifice; working from such a young age for such long periods and I definitely remember thinking during one extended break, ‘This whole thing is so all-consuming, do I really want to go back? Maybe it’s just not for me.’ I guess I was probably just being a teenager.”

The Brit has stuck mostly to TV since concluding his time in one of the world’s most successful franchises, starring in Sick Note, Snatch, and having just signed on to star in M. Night. Shyamalan’s next project.

“I peaked pretty early, but I’m fine with that. It would be ridiculous to think that you can replicate that level of success. It’s always going to be a challenge, but I’m kind of enjoying that. It’s quite fun to surprise people.”

We look forward to what’s next up his sleeve.
