94-year-old The Dick Van Dyke Show star, Rose Marie, died on Thursday at her home in Los Angeles.

She was a performer her whole life – her career started when she was only 5 with 1933 film International House. At the time, she was called “the child wonder”. But her life wasn’t quite easy.

As she revealed in the autobiography titled Hold The Roses, she’s had a rough childhood.

“I was raised by a mother who was a naïve, Polish lady who believed everything she was told. My father was a tyrant who had another family and never married my mother. He gambled away all the money I made as a child and my mother never knew a thing about it. He beat me because he was jealous of anybody I ever went out with.”

Rose Marie is survived by daughter Georgiana Marie and son-in-law Steven Rodriguez.
