]]> Since its premiere in 2013, animated sitcom Rick and Morty has become a huge hit and gained hardcore fans all over the world. Still, the future of the sitcom was uncertain in these past months with Adult Swim delaying the season four order.

On Thursday, however, the network came through big time and announced that Rick and Morty will get 70 more new episodes in the future. It remains unknown how Adult Swim will decide to split these episodes, with the network saying that the order represents “years to come.”

The sitcom’s co-creator Justin Roiland confirmed the news about the order on his Twitter page.

Rick and Morty follows the cynical mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith as they embark on crazy adventures through different dimensions and on other planets. This animated series received universal critical acclaim throughout its first three seasons and was particularly praised for its original humor.

The third season of Rick and Morty concluded its run in October 2017 and delivered the highest ratings in Adult Swim’s history. Following this success, season four was delayed indefinitely due to contract negotiations between the creators and the network.

“The reason we’re not working on Rick and Morty right now ain’t because I figured out that I don’t need to impress you,” joked co-creator Dan Harmon back in March, before deciding to reveal the real reason. “It’s because of a little something called contract negotiations and it’s gotten complicated this time around.”
