Glastonbury Festival is turning 50 next year, so it’s only fitting to mark the occasion by picking a headliner whose music repertoire forever changed the world. It turns out they found the person who perfectly fits this description in the Beatles legend Paul McCartney.

Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis officially confirmed his involvement on Twitter and said it’s “an absolute dream come true” to have McCartney headline the 50th anniversary of this iconic festival.

Eavis’ announcement wasn’t so surprising though as the former Beatle ruined it with a “subtle” tweet. McCartney posted a photo of Philip Glass, Emma Stone, and Chuck Berry, and it didn’t take his fans too long to figure out that their last names spell the word “Glass-Stone- Berry”.

This won’t be McCartney’s first time performing at the legendary British festival. He also served as one of the headliners back in 2004, alongside Oasis and Muse. The legendary singer can’t wait to go back, and he announced his Glastonbury set by tweeting, “Hey Glasto – excited to be part of your Anniversary celebrations. See ya next summer!”

Yesterday was one of the feel-good films of the summer. Starring Himesh Patel, the uplifting blockbuster tells the story of a failing musician who wakes up to discover that no one remembers The Beatles.

Months after the film’s initial release, Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he was not impressed by the idea and declined the opportunity to watch a premiere screening. Now, he has confessed that he eventually did go and see the movie. And he loved it.

“That began when Richard Curtis, who [directed] Love Actually, wrote to me with the idea. And I thought, ‘This is a terrible idea’, but I couldn’t tell him, so I said, ‘Well, that sounds interesting – good luck,’” the Beatle told Billboard.

“I didn’t think anything more of it. Then someone said Danny Boyle would direct it, and I thought, ‘They must think they can pull it off.’ And I thought nothing more of it until they asked if I wanted to see a screening. I asked Nancy, and we said, ‘Let’s go, you and me, on a date to the cinema’.”

The couple then snuck into the cinema anonymously, hoping that no one would catch them.

He recalled: “We were in the Hamptons in the summer and there it was, so we got two tickets and walked in when the cinema went dark. Only a couple of people saw us. We were in the back row, giggling away, especially at all the mentions of Paul McCartney. A couple of people in front of us spotted us, but everyone else was watching the film. We loved it.”

We get by with a little help from our friends.

Almost 50 years since The Beatles went their separate ways, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have recorded a song together.

And what more, the song was written by another of their friends and former band mates, John Lennon.

“I just loved this song. I sang it the best that I could. I do well up when I think of John this deeply. And I’ve done my best. We’ve done our best,” Ringo said of the track “Grow Old with Me,” which will feature on his upcoming album What’s My Name.

“The other good thing is that I really wanted Paul to play on it, and he said yes. Paul came over and he played bass and sings a little bit on this with me. So John’s on it in a way. I’m on it and Paul’s on it. It’s not a publicity stunt. This is just what I wanted. And the strings that Jack [Douglas] arranged for this track, if you really listen, they do one line from ‘Here Comes The Sun.’ So in a way, it’s the four of us.”

What’s My Name is out on October 25th.

It is extremely rare that Paul McCartney ever sings out of tune, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t get by with a little help from his friends on the odd occasion.

And one such occasion was during his show at London’s famous O2 Arena.

The former Beatle was joined by his fellow bandmate Ringo Starr in what turned out to be a mini-reunion on stage.

In addition, the pair found were accompanied by Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones as they all performed Get Back which The Beatles recorded in 1969.

Ringo returned to his drums, while Paul and Ronnie both played guitar.

We’re so happy they got back to where they still belong!

Paul McCartney just keeps bringing it and the fans can’t get enough.

After announcing a month ago that he will be releasing new music in five years with a 17th solo album titled Egypt Station and an incredible guest spot on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke, the former Beatle surprised fans Monday when he paid a visit to a particular road in London.

The 76-year-old music sensation was spotted reenacting the famous Abbey Road crossing from the group’s 1969 album, The Beatles.

McCartney retook the now historic walk across Abbey Lane, just as he did with fellow Beatles George Harrison, Ringo Starr and John Lennon almost fifty years ago.

Lucky for fans McCartney’s daughter Mary was there to film the historic do-over. McCartney posted the nostalgia-filled video to his Instagram account where he’s also seen striking a pose mid-crossing much to the crowd’s delight.

This time around McCartney was clad in maroon pants, a white button-up and a blazer slung over his shoulder, and unlike in the original, he also opted for some footwear.

Now that’s what you call a walk down memory lane!

The Beatle has just released new music, his first in five years.

Sir Paul McCartney to social media to announce that a new album is on its way. The 76-year-old had also released two new singles, “I Don’t Know” and “Come On To Me,” ahead of the forthcoming album.

In his tweet, he revealed the name and cover art of his new album which is titled Egypt Station. Of the title he said in a statement:

“I liked the words ‘Egypt Station’. It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make… ‘Egypt Station’ starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So it gives us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”

McCartney spoke with BBC News about releasing new music decades into his successful career.

“The great thing about the fact that you’ve been so successful for so long, comes the not-so-great thing, which is that at some point, you’re just gonna get big-headed… So yeah, if songs don’t just lay themselves out, then I will be quite strict, and think, ‘No, this is really lousy. I hate that bit of melody. I’ve gotta change it.’ And so then I will just work harder on it, come back to it, and spend some time, and try and fix it. And if I fix it, that’s fine, and then we go and record it. If I don’t, that’s not fine, and it gets chucked.”

The music icon also confirmed that he will be touring the new album.

“[W]e definitely know we’re out in September, and beyond… before then, before August, we might just do a couple of little gigs, just because they’re fun.”

Egypt Station will be out September 7.
