]]>The Quentin Tarantino film which came out in August has been regarded as one of his best features and it earned a 10-minute standing ovation when it premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
The movie, set in 1969, follows Leonardo DiCaprio who plays an aging television star whose series has been canceled. Along with his cameraman, portrayed by Brad Pitt, he attempts to work his way back into the industry which is no longer that which he recognizes.
Pitt is so far the favourite to scoop up the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, which, if he wins, will be his first Academy Award for acting in his 32-year career. He already has an Oscar as a producer on 12 Years a Slave which won Best Picture in 2014.
The studio behind Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is ensuring that the 55-year-old has the best chance in his category by submitting his co-star, DiCaprio, in that of Best Actor.
Nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards will be announced on January 13th, 2020, with the ceremony scheduled for February 9th.

]]>Tarantino’s latest feature is currently being shown in cinemas. This hasn’t prevented Tarantino from thinking about what he wants to do next with the feature. It was recently shared that the director has been considering re-purposing the film as a mini-series. Now, Brad Pitt has confirmed that these talks have indeed been happening.
“Yeah he’s talked about it,” Pitt said when asked about the concept. “It’s a pretty arousing idea.”
“I’m curious to see if movies last, if movies stick around,” Pitt told the New York Times. “What I notice about the younger generation is that they’re used to receiving a lot of information at a much faster pace, and they’re more inclined to watch a short series of episodes where you can stay in it as long as you want or jump out whenever you get bored.”
Pitt also brought up the success of Hateful Eight, which was released as a mini-series on Netflix. The series included unseen footage from the film and was divided into four parts.
“It’s almost the best of both worlds,” he said. “You have the cinema experience that exists, but you can actually put more content in a series format.”

]]>The director has long alluded to only making ten films, but recently told GQ Australia, “I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I’ve come to the end of the road. I see myself writing books and starting to write theater, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies.”
After premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Hollywood opened on July 26th, grossing $40.3 million at the domestic box office.
The figure has earned the movie the honor of being Tarantino’s highest-earning film on debut, beating Inglourious Basterds, which took in $38 million during its opening weekend in 2009.
Despite the impressive total, Hollywood still ranked second at the box office behind The Lion King remake, which is soon expected to reach $1 billion worldwide.

]]>The veteran director is premiering his 9th feature film at the illustrious Cannes Film Festival, where it has received rave reviews and even a 6-minute long standing ovation.
Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood’s runtime has been clocked at 159 minutes — or two hours and 39 minutes. Tarantino has now said that he is considering making the movie even longer.
“I may make it longer,” the filmmaker said the day after audiences first saw the movie.
The film originally had a runtime of four hours and 20 minutes, but editor Fred Raskin worked hard to cut it down so that it could debut at Cannes.
“I wouldn’t take anything else out,” Tarantino continued. “I’m going to explore possibly putting something back in. If anything, I wanted to go to Cannes too short. If I’m going to err, I’m going to err on too tight.”
This would not be the first time the 56-year-old director has re-edited a film following its premiere — he did the same after Inglourious Basterds premiered at Cannes ten years ago.
Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood will be available to the public on July 26th.

A similar thing has now occurred following the death of Burt Reynolds.
The Boogie Nights actor, who passed away on the 5th of September, was due to star in Quentin Tarantino’s new film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Burt was scheduled to act alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Al Pacino, Kurt Russell, and Dakota Fanning in the movie set around the 1969 murder of Sharon Tate by Charles Manson.
His role of George Spahn — an 80-year-old man who rented out his L.A. ranch to Manson and his followers in exchange for sex with female followers — will now be played by the late actor’s longtime friend and star of The Hateful Eight, Bruce Dern.
The film will be released on the 26th of July 2019.
