Dunlap, who is a writer and supervising producer on Lyonne’s acclaimed Netflix series Russian Doll, will write and executive produce the forthcoming series. Lyonne, Rudolph and Animal Pictures’ Danielle Renfrew Behrens will also exec produce.

The series will follow Sleech and Klak, two brilliant alien doctors who specialize in rare sci-fi illnesses. When Sleech defies protocol and contracts a disease from another dimension, the heroes must find a cure before the universe is destroyed.

“Cirocco is an incredibly gifted and hilarious talent and we can’t wait to share her irreverent and existential point of view: a sci-fi world so deep and so strange and so animated,” Rudolph and Lyonne said in a statement.

Amazon has already put The Hospital into active development.

Three and out.

That’s how Natasha Lyonne pictures her latest series, Russian Doll.

Lyonne’s character, Nadia, finds herself reliving her 36th birthday over and over, with no way to break the Groundhog Day cycle.

The Orange is the New Black star, who is also the creator of the series, told The Hollywood Reporter that she feels the story can be told succinctly in three seasons.

“I see it quite concretely, and it will be interesting to see what evolves,” she said. “The beauty of the power of the writers room is that Alan (Charlie Barnett) was a very different character in the original pitch and pilot. Month two of the room is where he really came alive. Before then, he had been a whole variety of other figures and now, looking back, imagining that show without Alan is almost impossible.

“Because of that experience, I know there has to be space left open for something beyond my limited imagination in this moment to know if that is still where the series begins, middles and ends. Maybe it’s only two seasons. Maybe it’s four seasons. Right now, it feels quite clearly that it is those three.”

Netflix has already ordered a second season of the dramedy, and here’s hoping that a third is on the cards.

The streaming service has announced that the Natasha Lyonne series has been renewed for a second season.

The dramedy, which is a more modern take on the Groundhog Day concept, finds Lyonne’s character Nadia constantly dying and reliving her 36th birthday party. Over and over.

“Same show, just weirder,” Lyonne announced at the CODE Conference in Arizona.”The character is a coder, so it would be appropriate to have this be the time and place to say, yes. So very much yes, I would love to do [a second season].”

The sophomore installment will once again consist of 8 episodes.

The Orange is the New Black actress, who also executive produced the show, hinted previously that the creators had planned a three season arc.

Let’s hold thumbs!
