True love never dies.

It just moves to a stage.

The Nicholas Sparks adaptation about a couple who are from different financial leagues came out in 2004 and is considered the break-out roles for Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams who are now household names.

One of the most romantic films of all time, The Notebook, will be doing just that.

The film is now set to go from its novel roots to the stage as it will receive the musical treatment.

The show is being developed by playwright Bekah Brunstetter who is a writer and supervising producer on This Is Us, and indie singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson whose repertoire includes tracks like Everybody and Girls Chase Boys.

“When I first heard about The Notebook potentially being turned into a musical, I was instantly drawn to the idea. The story hits home for me in two big ways: It takes place in my home state of North Carolina, and Alzheimer’s runs deep in my family,” said Brunstetter. “I was sent a few songs Ingrid had already written for it, and that week, I spent my drives to and from work car-listening, memorising, imagining the story unfold with music, imagining how I might layer worlds, dramatise memory, and before I even knew that I had to write the book for this, it was already starting to happen in my head. The older you get, it seems, the more invisible you become, and yet, you have so much to say — so putting an older couple at the forefront of a musical is thrilling to me.”

The King of Pop is coming to Broadway.

A stage production inspired by Michael Jackson’s life and music is set to premiere in 2020, eleven years after his passing.

The musical is a collaboration of The Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage, who confirmed the news Tuesday.

The still-untitled stage production is reportedly in early stages of production, and while details are scarce, it has been announced that two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage will write the story and Tony-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon will direct and choreograph.

This won’t be the first time the Michael Jackson Estate has collaborated on productions that attempted to dramatize the pop icon’s life. In 2013, it worked with Cirque du Soleil to launch Michael Jackson One, which has been running in Las Vegas since 2013.

Jackson died at the age of 50 in 2009 ending a hugely celebrated musical career that included numerous hits and earned his 13 Grammys.

Just weeks after making its Broadway debut, it was announced that Frozen will kick off its North American tour in fall 2019.

The production will make its way across the country with an official opening at the Pantages in Los Angeles. Additional dates for the tour’s itinerary as well as castings have yet to be announced. It is known, however, that the production will keep its musical direction of two-time Tony winner Stephen Oremus and conductor Dave Metzger during the tour.

The Disney adaptation has received three Tony nominations for best score, book and musical. Music was composed by the husband and wife duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the book is by Jennifer Lee. Michael Grandage serves as director.

“The only reason to expand this piece into a full-length Broadway musical was to dive much deeper into the idea of a family that can get frozen into dysfunction because of fear and shame,” Anderson-Lopez said of Frozen on-stage adaptation to The Hollywood Reporter. “To come to the theater and sit and have this analog experience with other people, allowing your emotions to really get as big as the emotions onstage, is something that we kind of need, and it can be really healing.”

On Thursday, at Broadway’s premiere of Frozen, the 2013’s hit animated movie director revealed that the sequel is in the works.

Jennifer Lee, who had directed Frozen, said at the opening:

“We’ve done amazing stuff on Frozen 2 and have a couple of songs already that are blowing my mind. We do about six screenings that we hand draw, and so I’m on the second draft, second screening. There’s no shortcut. What we have today hopefully will be 10% of what we have when it opens.”

Songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez added:

“We know the girls a lot better now. We’ve gone a lot deeper into their heads. We know the parents a lot better.”

Does that mean that the sequel will revolve around Elsa and Anna’s parents? Hopefully, we’ll have more details soon.
