Khalid is showing where his love lies — with the people of his hometown.

In the past 3 years, the “Young, Dumb & Broke” singer has dominated the music scene, becoming the very first (and only) artist to occupy the entire top 5 of the Billboard R&B Songs chart.

Now thanks to his success, the 21-year-old is deciding to give back to his community of El Paso, Texas.

Khalid has established a foundation for music and fine arts for communities in need.

The website for The Great Khalid Foundation states that the purpose of the initiative is to create “an atmosphere of support and freedom for kids to dream BIG! Through our music education programs, scholarship awards, and gift giveaways we are investing in our children and in their future.”

Sharing the good news on Instagram, Khalid said, “If I wasn’t in the position I am in life right now, I would’ve became a music teacher. Luckily, I get to teach in a way I would’ve never imagined! I wanna give a congratulations to all of the Performing Arts Scholarship winners! Everything is super new right now and it’s all a work in progress but you gotta start somewhere! Manifestation is super important! One day I WILL open up a school, but I gotta believe in myself.”

Perhaps it will be on the Eastside.
