]]>Probably not as blue as the new Genie!
With just months to go until we get a fresh take on Disney’s Aladdin, the studio has given us our first look at the world of Agrabah.
The trailer for the forthcoming live-action feature was unveiled during the Grammys and immediately transported every ‘90s kid back to their childhood.
Starring Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, and Will Smith, the film is one of the two remakes that Disney will be releasing this year (FYI, the other is The Lion King).
With the signature score from the 1992 original playing in the background, the trailer features Jafar, Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, the colorful sites of Agrabah, and, of course, the Genie.
However, the blue character played by Smith has not gone down as well as hoped, with audiences calling him everything from terrifying, to making comparisons to the Smurfs and Avatar…
Producers and director Guy Ritchie will likely be using his 3 wishes to ensure the film still does well when it is released on May 24th, 2019.

]]>But audiences will also have to learn some new lyrics.
Mena Massoud, who plays the titular character, has revealed that the upcoming live-action version of the tale from Agraba will feature not one, but two new songs!
It is hardly surprising when you realize that the film, helmed by Guy Ritchie, has hired Oscar-winning composing duo from La La Land, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
“We’ve got all the original music in there, plus a couple of new songs,” Mena told Variety. “They’re really empowering. I gotta say one is very empowering for women, I think people are going to really, really dig it. The other one is awesome as well. We got the same guys who did La La Land and The Greatest Showman, we’re in good hands.”
It’s gonna be a whole new world when Aladdin comes out on the 24th of May, 2019.
