]]>Disney’s recent theatrical date shift won’t affect MCU’s movies coming our way by the end of 2021, including Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home. All the other Marvel projects will be affected by this change, starting with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will now premiere on May 6th,2022 instead of opening in March.
Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder also switched its release date to July 8th, 2022, and is not expected to face any major competition from rival studios. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit the theaters on November 11th, 2022 and it’s yet to wrap up production in Atlanta.
Release date changes became pretty common in the face of COVID-19, but the global pandemic doesn’t seem to be the reason behind Disney’s latest shift. The release dates have been bumped because “some titles are contending with finishing scenarios while others are in production”, according to Deadline.

]]>Scorsese told Empire that the Marvel films are “not cinema” and clarified his comments by saying: “Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”
In light of his criticism, Gillan has jumped to Marvel’s defense, telling The Hollywood Reporter that “I would absolutely say that Marvel movies are cinema.”
She went on to praise “Guardians” director James Gunn. She said: “Cinema is story-telling with visuals. There’s so much heart and soul, and it’s James’ soul in there. He injects so much of his own personality, his sense of humor … that’s a very big representation of who he is as a person and therefore it’s very cinematic. He’s an artist.”

]]>Joe Russo co-directed Avengers: Endgame with his brother, Anthony. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man stepped in last-minute to help save the day and then returned in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The Russo brothers admitted that it was difficult to find a way for Sony and MCU to work together and incorporate Holland into the Avengers. Unfortunately, the collaboration recently came to end and Sony came to the decision to cut Spider-Man from the MCU.
Speaking with the Toronto Sun, Russo described this decision as a “tragic mistake.”
“We had a great run with [Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige] on Spider-Man movies. We tried to see if there’s a way to work it out…. the Marvel people are terrific people, we have great respect for them, but on the other hand we have some pretty terrific people of our own. Kevin didn’t do all the work,” he said.
He added: “For the moment the door is closed.”
