Longtime friends and Hollywood A-listers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and teaming up again and will helm Fox’s movie about the ex-cop who rigged McDonalds’ bi-annual monopoly game and stole millions back in 2001.

According to Deadline Affleck has been attached as director while Damon has been set to play ex-cop Jerome Jacobson. The two will produce through their Pearl Street company from a script penned by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. 

The story was brought back to the headlines recently by Daily Beast writer Jeff Maysh’s article, “How an Ex-Cop Rigged McDonald’s Monopoly Game and Stole Millions.” This is how the story begins:

“On Aug. 3, 2001, a McDonald’s film crew arrived in the bustling beach town of Westerly, Rhode Island. They carried their cameras and a giant cashier’s check to a row of townhouses and knocked on the door of Michael Hoover. The 56-year-old bachelor had called a McDonald’s hotline to say he’d won their Monopoly competition… This was a McSting.”

The two has collaborated in the past on many projects and are best known for their acclaim feature Good Will Hunting.
