Spider-Man best start working on spinning himself a web wall…

That’s because one of his arch rivals is getting his own film.

Peter Parker’s nemeses have already come to life in solo ventures such as Venom which was released last year and is gearing up for a sequel, once again starring Tom Hardy as the titular character.

Now another of Spidey’s enemies is set to get his own origin story — Morbius.

First appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #101 in 1971, Morbius was a scientist who tried to cure himself of a blood disease, but became afflicted with vampiric traits such as fangs and a thirst for blood.

Director of Safe House, Daniel Espinosa, will helm the movie, with Suicide Squad actor Jared Leto already signed on to star. He will now be joined by Matt Smith of The Crown in an unconfirmed — yet major — role.

Production on Morbius begins in February.

If you want something done right — give it to a woman.

After 13 years on air — and 5 incarnations — Doctor Who has received its highest-ever ratings.

The series, which follows the Time Lord through various realms and eras, was rebooted in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston portraying the 9th Doctor.

Since then, the role of the Doctor has been played by David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Peter Capaldi.

Producers decided to take a different direction following Peter’s departure last year by making the 13th Doctor a woman!

The risk now seems to have paid off as Jodie Whitaker’s debut as The Doctor on the 7th of October was the most-watched, earning 10.9 million viewers.

It trumps the initial reboot of the show where Eccleston’s introduction to audiences scored 10.8 million viewers.

Jodie’s debut also eclipses Tennant’s at 8 million, Smith who garnered 7.7 million, and Capaldi with 6.8 million.

Well done, Jodie!

As production continues on Star Wars: Episode IX, so do the cast announcements.

Just last week we heard that Lost star will be joining the J.J. Abrams flick which already boasts The Americans actress, Keri Russell, and Richard E. Grant of Withnail & I amongst its cast.

And that’s not to forget returnees, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac, who will be reprising their respective roles of Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron.

The latest addition to the film is no stranger to whizzing around the universe…

According to Variety, former Doctor Who star, Matt Smith, has joined the cast in an undisclosed but “key” role.

And not a TARDIS in site…

Matt Smith supports his Queen.

The Doctor Who actor was thrust into a pay disparity storm in March when it was discovered he was being paid more than his co-star on The Crown, Claire Foy, who is arguably the lead on the Netflix series.

Producers were forced to apologize for their faux pas, which allegedly arose as a result of Matt having a greater reputation due to his previous role on the sci-fi series.

Left Bank Pictures clarified that neither actor knew what the other was being paid, and that henceforth, “no one will be paid higher than the Queen.”

Despite Smith and Foy vacating their roles at the end of the second season due to a leap forward in the show’s time period, the 35 year old still spoke to The Hollywood Reporter regarding the controversy.

“Claire is one of my best friends, and I believe that we should be paid equally and fairly, and there should be equality for all. I support her completely, and I’m pleased that it was resolved and they made amends for it because that what’s needed to happen. Going forward, I think we should all bear in mind that we need to strive to make this better and a more even playing field for everyone involved—but not just in our industry, in all industries.”

Quite.
