Beyoncé Makes History at the 2023 Grammys, Harry Styles & Lizzo Pick Up Top Awards

Another Grammy Awards ceremony is behind us, and it was as spectacular as it gets. Beyoncé became the most-awarded artist in the show’s history with a total of 32 accolades, while Harry Styles and Lizzo won album and record of the year, respectively.

It was a big night for Beyoncé, who was nominated in nine categories this year, and managed to walk away with four awards: best dance/electronic recording (“Break My Soul”), best dance/electronic album (Renaissance), best traditional R&B performance (“Plastic Off the Sofa”) and best R&B song (“Cuff It”).

The Big Four categories brought a few surprises our away, but Harry Styles’ triumph wasn’t so difficult to predict. He won album of the year with Harry’s House, while Lizzo picked up the trophy for the record of the year with “About Damn Time”.

As for the shockers, Bonnie Raitt defeated the likes of Lizzo, Styles, and Taylor Swift to win song of the year with “Just Like That”. It was also pretty surprising to see Samara Joy beat the likes of Måneskin, Latto, and Anitta to be named the best new artist.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards took place on February 5, and the list of major winners also included Maverick City Music with four wins, and Brandi Carlile, Bonnie Raitt, Kirk Franklin, and Kendrick Lamar with three each.

Lizzo Announces New Album “Special” & Here’s Everything You Should Know

It’s been a while since Lizzo blessed us with some new music and she’s finally gearing up for a comeback. Her fourth studio album Special is set to hit the shelves in a few months and here’s everything we know about it so far.

Release Date

Special is scheduled to be released on July 15 through Nice Life and Atlantic Records. It marks Lizzo’s first studio album since the release of her Grammy-winning record Cuz I Love You in 2019, which spawned hit singles “Truth Hurts” and “Juice”.

Lizzo’s Vision

Lizzo discussed her vision for this album with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1’s New Music Daily and said it’s all about turning fear into love.

“I think that the music really is going to speak for itself. I’m writing songs about love from every direction, and I hope that I can turn a little bit of the fear that’s been running rampant in this world, energetically into love. That’s the point,” explained Lizzo.

Tracklist

Lizzo teased the release of her new album by dropping a music video for the lead single “About Damn Time”. She performed it live, together with the song called “Special”, during a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live, so it’s safe to assume they’ll both the featured on her upcoming album. The rest of the tracklist is yet to be unveiled.

2020 Grammy Awards: Lizzo Leads the Way With 8 Nods

Lizzo must be feeling good as hell right now because the list of Grammy nominations is finally in and she topped it with a total of eight nods!

The R&B singer will be competing for the prestigious album of the year award with the deluxe edition of her latest album Cuz I Love You, but this isn’t the only major category where she scored a nomination.

Lizzo’s chart-topping breakout single “Truth Hurts” managed to gain eligibility for a Grammy Award despite being released in 2017, and it received nominations in three different categories: record of the year, song of the year, and best pop solo performance.

Lizzo will be the only artist with eight nods at this year’s ceremony, but she’s in a pretty good company on the list. Rising stars Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X also had an amazing run this year and ended up being awarded six Grammy nominations each.

We can’t wait to see how many shiny trophies they’ll end up taking home when Grammy Awards air live on CBS on January 26, 2020.

Lizzo Preaches Self-Love and Reminds Us Why She’s a Queen

The truth may hurts sometimes, but Lizzo’s latest spout off wisdom is all about healing.

The “Truth Hurts” singer performed at the 7^th Annual We Can Survive benefit concert in support of the American Cancer Society and shared a few pearls about how to love yourself in between songs.

“Sometimes it can be as important as standing up for yourself, honoring your emotions, speaking your mind and taking your time,” she told the audience at the Hollywood Bowl. “I recently just practiced self-care and I think you’re going to be very proud of me. Guess what I did? I finally blocked this boy on Instagram and deleted his number! Self-care, boo, self-care.”

Lizzo’s songs typically address feeling good about oneself, with her track “Juice” including the lyrics, “Mirror, mirror on the wall / Don’t say it, ’cause I know I’m cute / If I’m shinin’, everybody gonna shine.”

“I want people to feel good! We can heal the world but first, we have to heal ourselves,” she declared.

The latest trailer for Hustlers shows off the star-studded cast living the high life.

The feature is based on a true story of a group of strippers who hustled wealthy men. The cast includes Cardi B, Lizzo, and J-Lo. The latter is smothered in dollar notes while dancing on stage in the trailer.

The powerful group of women seduce men with too much cash and use some pretty problematic methods to steal from them. It starts off all fun and games until things start to go terribly wrong.

Speaking with Deadline, Chairman of STXfilms Adam Fogelson said: “We could not have asked for a more exciting or talented lineup of performers to join our cast.”

Writer and director Lorene Scafaria added: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with this dynamic group of women. We’re grateful to have assembled such a powerhouse cast and can’t wait to start filming at the end of the week.”

Hustlers will be released in movie theaters in the US September 13th.

Lizzo’s Hit Song is Eligible for the Grammys

This truth definitely ain’t gonna hurt.

The Recording Academy, which is responsible for the Grammy Awards, has ruled that the song “Truth Hurts” by Lizzo will indeed be eligible for Record of the Year.

Why the issue?

Well, the track, which has soared up the charts and is considered a follow-up to the singer’s first song “Juice,” actually came out in 2017.

“This lighthearted hip-hop smash was first released in September 2017, more than a year before the start of the current eligibility year [October 1st, 2018 to August 31st, 2019]. But the Academy confirms that it will be eligible. As such, it has an excellent chance of making the finals,” said a statement on Billboard.

So far, “Truth Hurts” has reached 6th spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts, making it Lizzo’s first top 10 record.

Following the news of the song’s eligibility, the 31-year-old took to Twitter.

“When I dropped ‘Truth Hurts,’ I was so depressed I almost quit music… this is my testimony… my hard work’s paying off… a reminder to never give up.”

Voting members and registered media companies have until August 2nd to submit nominations for the 2020 Grammys, which will take place on January 26th.

The “Truth Hurts” singer performed at the 7^th Annual We Can Survive benefit concert in support of the American Cancer Society and shared a few pearls about how to love yourself in between songs.

“I want people to feel good! We can heal the world but first, we have to heal ourselves,” she declared.

The latest trailer for Hustlers shows off the star-studded cast living the high life.

The powerful group of women seduce men with too much cash and use some pretty problematic methods to steal from them. It starts off all fun and games until things start to go terribly wrong.

Speaking with Deadline, Chairman of STXfilms Adam Fogelson said: “We could not have asked for a more exciting or talented lineup of performers to join our cast.”

Hustlers will be released in movie theaters in the US September 13th.

Lizzo’s Hit Song is Eligible for the Grammys

This truth definitely ain’t gonna hurt.

The Recording Academy, which is responsible for the Grammy Awards, has ruled that the song “Truth Hurts” by Lizzo will indeed be eligible for Record of the Year.

Why the issue?

Well, the track, which has soared up the charts and is considered a follow-up to the singer’s first song “Juice,” actually came out in 2017.

So far, “Truth Hurts” has reached 6th spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts, making it Lizzo’s first top 10 record.

Following the news of the song’s eligibility, the 31-year-old took to Twitter.

Voting members and registered media companies have until August 2nd to submit nominations for the 2020 Grammys, which will take place on January 26th.
