The BAFTA Film Awards ceremony is a couple of months away, but there’s already a new host in town! The famous talk show host will take over from Joanna Lumley and host this award ceremony for the first time ever.

Norton is a pretty amazing choice since he’s the host of the leading talk show in the UK. He’s also an obvious pick because he did an amazing job hosting the BAFTA Television awards earlier this year.

“I’m delighted to be taking the helm of the biggest night in British film. The audience at the Royal Albert Hall will be the biggest sofa I’ve ever faced. I’m honored to be following in the fabulous footsteps of Stephen Fry and Joanna Lumley,” said Graham Norton in an official statement.

Unlike the majority of the award ceremonies, BAFTAs have a tendency to stick to the same host for a prolonged period of time. This award show only had three different hosts since 2002 – Fry, Lumley and Jonathan Ross – but Norton is ready to shake things up.

We’re still waiting for the BAFTA nominations to be announced, and the wait will finally be over on January 7th, 2020. The ceremony is set to take place on February 2nd, 2020 at the Royal Albert Hall.

The BAFTAs love Joanna Lumley.

So much so, that they have asked her to return as host of the British film awards.

“We’re thrilled that Joanna has agreed to return as our host for a second year, she was fantastic and we’re looking forward to the ceremony with her once again at the helm,” said BAFTA’s director of awards Emma Baehr.

The Absolutely Fabulous star is regarded as a national treasure, so it seemed only logical to select her as host when veteran MC, Stephen Fry, stepped down last year after holding the fort for 12 ceremonies.

The awards are regarded as the biggest night in the British film industry, and includes awards such as Best British Film and Rising Star.

The ceremony will once again be held at The Royal Albert Hall when it takes place on the 10th of February, with nominations set to be announced on the 9th of January.

How absolutely fabulous!
