]]>It was confirmed earlier this year that we would be jumping into the final frontier with a Mad About You reboot.
Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt played the roles of Paul and Jamie Buchman throughout the series, which ran for 7 years on NBC.
The Spectrum Originals’ revival will be set in the present, meaning their little girl, who was born near the end of the show’s run, is now an adult.
Abby Quinn of Landline has been cast in the role of the grown-up Mabel, alongside Reiser and Hunt who will be reprising theirs.
Peter Tolan will serve as showrunner, in addition to executive producer and writer for the series. Danny Jacobson, who co-created the show with Reiser, will act as executive consultant, while Hunt will direct the first episode.
12 episodes have so far been ordered and are set to debut later in 2019.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the NBC comedy is being pitched to different networks. While there are no takers yet, it is reported that producers Sony Pictures is working hard at selling the revival to multiple outlets, including CBS.
“It has been pitched; it is still being discussed,” CBS executive VP Thom Sherman told reporters Wednesday, following his network’s pre-upfront press briefing in New York.
There have been months of discussion about the possibility of a Mad About You revival beginning in December. NBC, the original home of the Emmy-nominated series is not taking part in the reboot. The new season, should it happen, would be set in present day and will follow Paul and Jamie in the wake of their 17-year-old daughter Mabel’s college acceptance. Yes, this means that just like Will & Grace and Roseanne the new season will completely disregard the series finale.
In April Hunt said that she and Reiser were “talking about how to make [a revival] work and not wreck it,” adding that it would be “compelling to visit these characters 20 years into a marriage after raising an entire human being. So depending on some pieces falling into place, it could happen.”
