It looks like this year’s The Simpsons annual Halloween special is going to be extra spooky.

Execs have made a very chilling scheduling decision — next year’s “Treehouse of Horror XXX will be episode 666 go the animated series. Well, apparently they made the decision way back in 1989.

The special episode will also be the 666th episode that the series has ever aired. The Simpsons has been running over three-decade and its still going strong. According to Entertainment Weekly, It is officially the longest-running prime-time scripted entertainment series ever.

Executive producer Al Jean told the outlet that Sunday’s “Treehouse of Horror XXIX,” will pull gags from Jurassic Park, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Three Faces of Eve. And in the opening of the episode, “Cthulhu, the ancient creature of the sea, gets into an eating contest with Homer,” Jean also told EW. “I’ll leave you to guess who might win,” he added.

While it still hasn’t been renewed for its 31st season, all signs point to a renewal — “I’d like to do more seasons, just to ensure that that doesn’t cause the end of the world,” quipped Jean.
