]]>The Duchess of Cambridge has been an official member of the royal family for eight years, and now she has had an important title bestowed upon her.
Kate Middleton’s grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, has formally named her a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.
The title is the highest possible rank and places the 37-year-old among prestigious company such as the Queen’s husband Prince Phillip, her sons Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, Prince Charles’s wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Harry.
Queen Victoria established the Royal Victorian Order in 1896 as a means to recognize people who helped or represented her, with the ruling monarch getting to decide who receives the honor.
Prince Phillip was made a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order on his and the Queen’s 70th wedding anniversary, with history now repeating itself as Kate received her Damehood on her and Prince William’s 8th anniversary.
Now that’s a Dame good gift.

So it’s no surprise that Reese Witherspoon had a fangirl moment when she had a chance to meet Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine.
When Catherine and Prince William took their first trip to the United States as a married couple in 2011, they attended the Launch of Tusk Trust’s US Patron’s Circle in California where they met the Big Little Lies actress.
“The scream that issued from my lips upon receiving [the invitation] — you would have thought I was going to die,” the Oscar winner wrote in an excerpt from her new book, Whiskey in a Teacup. “I wake up early, mind you, but on that day I was up at 04:00 doing my hair. That’s early, even for me. ‘I’ve never seen you this excited,’ my husband said. He wasn’t kidding.”
Reese continued by saying, “She was just lovely and warm, elegant and composed. She also told a joke, and I immediately fell under her spell. She’s just as magnificent as she seems to be. She’s a very compassionate, socially conscious, deeply caring person.”
We’re sure Catherine was equally charmed.
