The Super Bowl LVI halftime show never disappoints, and this year’s performance was as unforgettable as it gets. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige took the stage to deliver an amazing show that celebrates old-school hip-hop in its full glory.

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg kicked things off with their collaboration “The Next Episode” before delivering an epic cover of 2Pac’s “California Love”. They were followed by the guest performer 50 Cent, who gave us one of the show’s biggest viral moments with his song “In Da Club”.

Mary J. Blige was one of the show’s shiniest stars, and her performance of “Family Affair” and “No More Drama” was one for the books. She was followed by Kendrick Lamar, who represented the new generation of hip-hop with his songs “M.A.A.D City” and “Alright”.

Lamar joined Eminem as he entered the stage to perform “Forgot About Dre”. The most talked-about moment of the entire show came during Eminem’s song “Lose Yourself” and he ended up taking the knee at the end of his performance. The five headliners then closed the show with a joint rendition of “Still D.R.E.”

The Super Bowl LVI took place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on February 13th, with the Los Angeles Rams being crowned as the winners.

It’s time to confirm that what you’ve heard through the grapevine, is true.

Variety reports that Dr. Dre will produce a biopic about Motown legend Marvin Gaye.

Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, has already tipped his toe into film producing in the past with 2015’s Straight Outta Compton. The film which chronicled the rise of his hip-hop group N.W.A was nominated for best original screenplay at the 2016 Academy Awards and grossed over $200m worldwide.

The rapper has secured the rights to the singer’s catalog as well as his family estate’s blessing to produce the biopic.

This isn’t the first time a biographical movie about the “Let’s Get It On” singer has been attempted, however, this is the second time a project receives the family’s blessing. The first time was in 2016 when it approved a limited series starring Jamie Foxx.

Another on-screen project about Gaye is a documentary featuring never-before-seen footage, titled What’s Going On. Slated for a 2017 release, it has been reported that the project is still in development.

While past attempts to dramatize the life of Gaye by Cameron Crowe, James Gandolfini and Scott Rudin never made it to our screens, hopefully, this one will.

On Thursday, Forbes magazine revealed its annual ranking of top five wealthiest hip-hop artists, and this year there has been a change on the top. In 2018’s rankings, Jay-Z emerged as the wealthiest man in hip-hop, leaping over last year’s number one, Sean Combs aka Diddy.

Compared to 2017, Jay-Z increased its net worth from $810 million to $900 million, thanks to his champagne brand Armand de Brignac and D’Ussé cognac. His ownership stakes in Roc Nation and Tidal streaming service also greatly helped the cause.

Diddy, on the other hand, didn’t have such a fruitful year like Jay-Z, but he also didn’t lose any of his wealth. In 2018 Diddy’s net worth is $825 million, which represents a $5 million increase compared to the last year. His ventures in vodka (Ciroc) and TV ( Revolt) businesses didn’t pan out as he may have expected, but his businesses with DeLeón tequila and beverage company Diageo helped Diddy to keep his fortune intact.

Dr. Dre remained on the third spot with a net worth of $770 million, compared to $730 million in 2017. The legendary rapper and hip-hop producer might well claim the first spot in 2019 since he is about to get some Apple stocks in the summer which could end up being worth well about $100 million.

When it comes to fourth and fifth place on the list, there is a tie between Eminem and Drake. The both have an estimated net worth of $100 million.
