Oscars so diverse.

You may remember back in 2016 when the Academy Awards nominees all looked a little similar.

The 20 names announced as nominees among the four main acting categories were all Caucasian, prompting allegations of a lack of diversity within The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The incident spurred the campaign #OscarsSoWhite, which in turn pushed The Academy to transform its membership.

That practice is being followed through in the announcement of its latest batch of members.

Of the 842 industry professionals who have been invited to join The Academy, 50% are female and 29% are non-white.

They include big names such as Lady Gaga, Claire Foy, Sterling K. Brown, Mark Ronson, Jamie Bell, Jennifer Ehle, Tom Holland, Damian Lewis, Elisabeth Moss, Archie Panjabi, Amanda Peet, and Alexander Skarsgard.

The new additions have likely caused the number of members to surpass 9,000, while 8,000 will be eligible to vote in the upcoming Oscars next February.

Despite Hollywood making reforms to become more inclusive of all races, Ellen Pompeo still feels like more needs to be done.

The Grey’s Anatomy actress participated on a panel for Net-a-Porter which also includes Gina Rodriguez of Jane the Virgin, Emma Roberts from American Horror Story, and Being Mary Jane star Gabrielle Union.

“There’s a ton of women in the room, but I don’t see enough color and I didn’t see enough color when I walked in the room today,” Ellen said. “And I had a meeting with a director of another endorsement project that I’m doing. I said, ‘You know when I show up on set I would like to see the crew look like the world that I walk around in every day.’ And I think it’s up to all productions to make sure that your crew looks like the world we see.”

The 49-year-old continued by saying, “As Caucasian people, it’s our job, it’s our task, it’s our responsibility to make sure that we speak up in every single room we walk into, that this is not OK and that we can all do better. It’s our job because we created the problem.”

Clear, Dr. Grey.

Listen up because the Queen has a new proclamation.

Star actress, Queen Latifah, has decided to launch an initiative which will empower more women to give voices to their stories.

Encouraged by the struggle she faced herself as a woman of color in Hollywood, the Queen Collective aims to assist female directors in the industry.

“I do not fit the typical mold of what then was looked at as an A-List actor — say size two, blonde, short, thin. They’re all out the window when it comes to me. So I mean, everything had to change. I had to really change a lot of people’s minds and earn a lot of people. And also create my own endeavors because people just didn’t get it,” she told PEOPLE.

The Queen Collective will now attempt to alter that narrative by encouraging women to submit their stories. Two will then be chosen, and have assistance to fund and distribute their film, all under Latifah’s guidance.

“White guys have been able to tell their story in every sort of way, and unfortunately it hasn’t been that way for women. And it hasn’t been that way for people of other colors or genders,” says the Oscar winner. “That’s the part that’s missing. We want to make sure that everyone is allowed to tell their story.”

We’ll be watching.
