With filming recently completed on Coming to America 2, Murphy told Ellen Degeneres that he “couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.”

He continued: “A lot of people have this expectation like people would say to me when they found out I was doing it, ‘Don’t f— that movie up.’ So we’ve gone above and beyond what anybody would think. I’m really, really happy with it.”

In addition to playing Prince Akeem, Murphy will also be reviving all of the other characters that he played in the original. 

Also starring in the sequel is Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, and Wesley Snipes. 

Coming to America 2 hits theaters on December 18, 2020.
