Oscars so diverse.

You may remember back in 2016 when the Academy Awards nominees all looked a little similar.

The 20 names announced as nominees among the four main acting categories were all Caucasian, prompting allegations of a lack of diversity within The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The incident spurred the campaign #OscarsSoWhite, which in turn pushed The Academy to transform its membership.

That practice is being followed through in the announcement of its latest batch of members.

Of the 842 industry professionals who have been invited to join The Academy, 50% are female and 29% are non-white.

They include big names such as Lady Gaga, Claire Foy, Sterling K. Brown, Mark Ronson, Jamie Bell, Jennifer Ehle, Tom Holland, Damian Lewis, Elisabeth Moss, Archie Panjabi, Amanda Peet, and Alexander Skarsgard.

The new additions have likely caused the number of members to surpass 9,000, while 8,000 will be eligible to vote in the upcoming Oscars next February.

There’s a new reigning monarch.

Netflix has recast Claire Foy and Matt Smith’s characters to reflect their character’s transformation into middle-age as the series jumps forward in time, and now fans finally get to see what their Queen looks like.

The streaming giant released the first official look at Olivia Colman who will star as the main monarch in season three of The Crown. Colman is taking over from Claire Foy who played the monarch in the first two seasons of the royal drama. The new cast also includes Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret and Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip.

The photo of Colman in character was shared Monday on The Crown’s official Twitter account. Clad in a pink suit with coifed hair and holding a cup of tea, the image was simply captioned with, “Patience.”

In a statement following the official announcement of her casting, Colman said, “I’m so thrilled to be part of The Crown, I was utterly gripped watching it, a proper ‘just one more’ feeling. I think Claire Foy is an absolute genius, she’s an incredibly hard act to follow, I’m basically going to rewatch every episode and copy her!”

Also starring in The Crown season three are Jason Watkins as Prime Minister Harold Wilson and Ben Daniels as Antony Armstrong-Jones.

The Crown season three will premiere in 2019.

Matt Smith supports his Queen.

The Doctor Who actor was thrust into a pay disparity storm in March when it was discovered he was being paid more than his co-star on The Crown, Claire Foy, who is arguably the lead on the Netflix series.

Producers were forced to apologize for their faux pas, which allegedly arose as a result of Matt having a greater reputation due to his previous role on the sci-fi series.

Left Bank Pictures clarified that neither actor knew what the other was being paid, and that henceforth, “no one will be paid higher than the Queen.”

Despite Smith and Foy vacating their roles at the end of the second season due to a leap forward in the show’s time period, the 35 year old still spoke to The Hollywood Reporter regarding the controversy.

“Claire is one of my best friends, and I believe that we should be paid equally and fairly, and there should be equality for all. I support her completely, and I’m pleased that it was resolved and they made amends for it because that what’s needed to happen. Going forward, I think we should all bear in mind that we need to strive to make this better and a more even playing field for everyone involved—but not just in our industry, in all industries.”

Quite.
