The man who kept the Beatles in time with his drumming skills has now become a knight of the British order.

Ringo Starr knelt down on one knee at Buckingham Palace as Prince William officially bestowed on him his knighthood.

Ringo used his full name for the prestigious occasion, making his new title Sir Richard Starkey.

At the age of 77, Ringo — who already became a Member of the British Order in 1965 with his fellow band mates — has now become the second Beatle to be knighted, following Paul McCartney’s turn in 1997.

“I had dinner with him [Paul] last week and we were both actually laughing about where we came from, and we’ve ended up in the palace and it’s now Sir Paul and Sir Richard,” he said.

The drummer has also already devised the perfect place to put his medal, jokingly stating, “I’ll be wearing it at breakfast.”

When asked by a BBC reporter whether he wished to be referred to as “Sir Ringo” from now on, the musician replied saying that he hadn’t yet decided, “But I expect you to use it.”
