Aretha Franklin will grace our screens one more time.

46 years after being filmed, a documentary about the icon is finally set to be seen by audiences.

The late director Sydney Pollack filmed the RESPECT singer in concert over two consecutive evenings at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles in 1972 for what would become Amazing Grace.

The film’s release was delayed due to audio issues but eventually finished by producer Alan Elliot who planned to release the documentary at the 2015 Telluride Film Festival before Aretha put a stop to plans as a result of a rights dispute.

With the Queen of Soul passing away in August, her estate reached an agreement allowing the film to be shown to the public for the first time.

Amazing Grace will thus feature as part of the DOC NYC lineup next week, as well a limited theatrical release which will allow it to contend in the Best Documentary category at the 2019 Academy Awards.

We’ll say a little prayer for it.
