]]>Shōgun scored 25 nods at this year’s Emmy Awards, and it had a great night at the Creative Arts Emmy Award a week prior, where it won 14 trophies. Its domination continued at the Primetime Emmy Awards, where it won an additional four trophies for a total of 18—the most by any series in a single year.
The race in the comedy field wasn’t as clear, and The Bear and Hacks emerged as the major front-runners. The Bear dominated the field with four major awards for a total of 11, setting a new record for most wins by a comedy show in a single year, but the coveted outstanding comedy award went to Hacks.
Winners were much easier to predict in the limited/anthology series field, where Baby Reindeer emerged as the clear front-runner. It won the award for outstanding limited or anthology series, in addition to acting awards for its leading duo Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning.
The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards took place on September 15 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with Eugene Levy and Dan Levy hosting the show.

Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell told Tudum that it took time to get to Benedict’s story because “it felt important for him to explore the fullness of himself before he settles down” because “he is someone who has big appetites.”
Luke Thompson is coming back to lead the fourth season of Bridgerton, and Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Claudia Jessie, Nicola Coughlin, Luke Newton, Golda Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell, and Hannah Dodd are expected to join him.
Yerin Ha is the latest addition to the cast as Sophie Beckett, the daughter of an earl and one of his maids, who was never accepted as her father’s legitimate child. She rose to prominence with the role in the Paramount+ series Halo, and will next star in HBO’s Dune: Prophecy.

]]>Season 1 of House of the Dragon wrapped up with the death of King Viserys, which set the stage for one of the darkest periods in the history of the Seven Kingdoms. As the series progresses, we’ll see two rivaling clans of House Targaryen fighting for their rightful place on the Iron Throne, kicking off a harrowing war of succession known as the Dance of the Dragons.
Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke are returning to lead the House of the Dragon cast in Season 2, and they’ll have great support in Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Matthew Needham, Sonoya Mizuno, Tom Glynn-Carney, and Ewan Mitchell.
George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal serve as co-creators of this series, and HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi said they can’t wait to watch their team burn bright in Season 3.
House of the Dragon returned to HBO on June 16 for Season 2, which will feature a total of eight episodes.

]]>Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys chronicled the endless push-and-pull between the team of corrupt superheroes known as The Seven and the rivaling group of vigilantes The Boys, trying to expose them for who they truly are.
This series will come back for its fourth season on June 13, and its creator Eric Kripke celebrated its return by taking to social media to announce that Season 5 will serve as its “gory, epic, emotional climax.”
The Boys could’ve easily gone on for many more years since it’s one of Prime Video’s biggest hits, but the streaming giant eventually gave Kripke the green light to wrap it up after five seasons.
“It took a minute for Amazon to agree, it took another minute to get them to clear it in all the channels so that we could finally announce it… I give them all the credit in the world and I’m so grateful for them to let me end this story on my terms. That’s obviously really rare,” he told Variety.

]]>Henry Cavill led The Witcher for the first two seasons before announcing his departure in 2022. He wished luck to Hemsworth after passing the torch to him, adding he can’t wait to see his take on “this most fascinating and nuanced of men.”
Hemsworth has been preparing to become Geralt of Rivia for almost two years, and the first look at Season 4 finally gave us a glimpse at his transformation. The brief teaser sees Geralt making his way through the woods on a foggy night before a mysterious growl forces him to turn around, revealing Hemsworth’s version of the iconic character.
Season 4 is currently filming in the UK along with Season 5, which will mark the conclusion of this hit epic fantasy series. Creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich addressed the cancelation in a statement to Netflix and said they’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion.

]]>According to the streamer’s official logline, the new series will see “the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.”
This project came together after Greg Daniels, who developed the original series for NBC, gathered a group of trusted writers to work on new ideas this winter. He found a perfect partner in crime in Michael Koman, who co-created the new spin-off by his side.
Even before Peacock gave this project a green light, Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars franchise) and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) were tapped to play two of the lead roles. The last of the show’s ensemble cast will most likely be announced in the coming weeks.
Peacock’s The Office spin-off still doesn’t have an official title, but the streamer is expected to share more news before it kicks off production this July.

]]>The Better Sister will explore the terrible things that drive sisters apart and ultimately bring them back together, and here’s what it has in store according to Amazon’s official synopsis:
“Chloe (Biel), moves through the world with her handsome lawyer husband Adam and teenage son Ethan by her side while her estranged sister Nicky (Banks) hustles to make ends meet while trying to stay clean. When Adam is brutally murdered, the prime suspect sends shockwaves through the family, laying bare long-buried secrets.”
Biel and Banks will executive produce this series alongside showrunners Olivia Milch and Regina Corrado, director Craig Gillespie, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Alissa Bachner via Tomorrow Studios, plus Annie Marter and Michelle Purple.
Jessica Biel is no stranger to carrying a major TV series on her shoulders, and we’ve recently seen her lead USA Network’s The Sinner and Hulu’s Candy. Elizabeth Banks has mostly been focusing on directing in recent years, but we’ve also seen her star in The Beanie Bubble and Call Jane.

]]>For All Mankind is set in an alternate timeline, where the Soviet Union became the first nation to pull off a Moon landing instead of the United States. This changed the course of the space race and forced NASA to do everything in its power to catch up.
For All Mankind centers on the American program, but the new spin-off Star City will switch up the perspective and take us behind the Iron Curtain. It will show the lives of cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence officers in the Soviet space program.
Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, said that there’s so much left to explore in the For All Mankind universe, and this spin-off will allow them to do just that.
“For All Mankind continues to build out a fascinating world and capture global audiences through high-quality storytelling that has been so skillfully developed by Ron, Matt and Ben. [We] can’t wait to dive into this next chapter of the engrossing For All Mankind universe,” said Cherniss in a statement.

]]>The post “House of the Dragon” is Coming Back for Season 3 appeared first on TheDailyDay.

]]>The post “The Office” Spin-Off Officially Gets Peacock Series Order appeared first on TheDailyDay.

]]>The post Apple TV+ Expanding “For All Mankind” Universe With Season 5 & New Spin-Off appeared first on TheDailyDay.
